    D'Amato wanted the boxing commission to have jurisdiction over hypnosis because a boxer could be compelled to take terrible punishment by a hypnotist? Is that the basis of his testimony?

    Seems to be the case.
    Seems like he was under the impression that Liston may have been doing hypnosis to withstand Pattersons punches.

    Well hindsite is 20/20 but based on the results of their two fights it was Patterson that should have been hypnotized before the bouts.
