Greeeaaat. So, he outsmarted a fat clumsy cholo. Povetkin would've
been inside the pocket almost the entire fight not allowing wilder to
breath and beating him with short hard shots until deontaaaaaaayyyyyy
crumbled in the middle of the ring. Anybody who thinks wilder would
not have been KO'd by Sasha if those false drug allegations would've
not derailed the fight.............DKSAB. It's called cutting the ring and
Wildman swinger hasn't faced anyone who could do it yet. Pov is all
wrong for Wilder. I just don't know how none of you can see it. Of yeah,
none of you on here actually know anything about the science.

Unfortunately, I think this is a case where it's just easy to look good against a bad fighter.

We're not dealing with amateurs here. Pros absolutely know a lot about boxing strategy and technique. If you let a pro boxer do what they want, they're going to look amazing. They're going to look like a boxing genius. They've learned all the theory. They've spent years practicing it. They live it. They know it.

The only reason we don't see this in most fights is because their opponents know at least almost as much, and know what to do to fight back.

But against a bad fighter, you'll see all that amazing knowledge and skill and experience brought out.

It doesn't mean they only just learned how to do those things. It just means they're getting a rare chance to showcase it.

I don't want to be too critical towards Wilder. In hindsight, I think his defenses against Molina, Szpilka, and Duhaupas were all "okay." Not great, but acceptable. None are good boxers, but skill level and resume quality really do drop off precipitously beyond the top 10, maybe even the 5, for the heavyweight division. Champions can't always face top 5s, so you have to expect them to fight the Szpilkas and Duahapases.

If you want to judge his actual progression, I'd look more towards those fights where Wilder wasn't really free to do whatever he wanted.

But I want to acknowledge that you're right. 4 defenses is an impressive accomplishment. And I think that touches on why I still "believe in" Wilder. It's not a single fight. It wasn't Molina, Szpilka, or Duhaupas. It was all of them together. It was the fact he consistently showed that level of skill. That's why I think Wilder is good.

Anyway, I enjoy your ****yses Rumsfeld. Your predictions are awful, but your ****yses of fighters are good and fun.

    :patsch :nut

Or, Povetkin would've asked for a tuneup because he needed more time to prepare for Wilder ... then he would've asked for a delay until his illegal drugs were no longer detectable ... and then he would've signed to Wilder only to fail a drug test a week before their fight, forcing the bout to be called off and screwing up one of the most anticipated fights of the year ...

I wonder which one of us is living in the real world? :deal

Wilder needed help from WADA and the WBC.....................now that Povetkin has been cleared, what is the WBC waiting on? Wilder will continue to refuse to fight a mandatory fight.......................

"You know that guy who's just alright that knocked out that other guy who sucks that I said would knock him out last week? Well, it turns out that I'm not yet willing to admit that the guy I picked sucks; so I'm going to double down and say that the reason he lost was that the other guy was as good as Muhammad Ali."
    "Thanks Rummy."

First of all, I'm proud of you, Rummy. Takes a lot of courage to return after picking Arreola. Many people would have committed ritual suicide, which in this day and age is not an acceptable solution. In the 16th century, you'd be dead now.

Second, Wilder needs to stop using that idiotic mask. It's difficult to take him seriously in any case, but with the mask, he loses all credibility.

Third, and last, in the words of the immortal Shannon Briggs "Just keep throwing, Deontay".

Good video. I was joking about having to atone but this will work. Wilder showed some of the skills he had in store for big meldonium head. If Wilder is snapping the jab like he did in this fight it's going to be tough to beat him.

Far as the mask goes. You're talking about a public that is spending over a billion dollars on comic book superhero movies. The mask is ok.

Agreed that he's still technically flawed even while improving. And I didn't really mean the list as a form of comedy, marting.

Considering the WBC and WBA both date back to the 60s, and that the IBF and WBO came along in the 80s (with the latter gaining more "mainstream" acceptance in the 90s), it's still an interesting stat I think. I fully believe Fury is undeniably the man, and that Wilder - like Byrd and Vitali - just held one alphabet belt for the consecutive defenses. But I still think it's fascinating that so few have reached the mark.
