I'm honestly not sure, but I tend to believe aggressive pressure is his key. In other words, he needs to try and keep Wilder on the defensive insofar as he can. And if I were Arreola, I'd probably be more willing to eat jabs and hooks than right hands if it comes to that.

But the bottom line for me, is that I think Arreola needs to find ways to land his power punches before Wilder finds ways to land his.

I've always thought people undersold Arreola. He's always been his own worst enemy. He doesn't stay in shape, leans on his power too much, and lacks the discipline needed to be a champion.

That being said, Chris is a student of the sport. His father was a boxer and a trainer. Chris has a really strong amateur history, 160+ fights, 15'ish losses, multiple championships, silver gloves, etc.

He's admitted it himself, he literally eats and smokes his way out of wins. He has so much experience, and he has all the reasons to win and nothing to lose.

Chris has so much freaking heart and courage that it's hard to dislike him. After 43 fights, I'm still excited to see him fight.

    War Arreola!

I hope you are right Rummy! I'm not sure how Arreola will deal though , his punch resistance is pretty bad. He does recover well and will get up, but for how long. He's brave though, it will be a fun first round. I doubt it goes past that but we shall see.

    Yep.
He'd better not got dropped or badly hurt and have like 90 seconds to kill. Not when fighting the house fighter--it'll be waved off. But don't you think the Wilder corner is going to have their guy take a few measurements and then load up and fire right hands? Catch arreola coming in or just standing there?

If he was better with his feints, I think he could easily get Chris falling for the feints early & then move him where he wants him and bang. That and doing the old trick of making Arreola wait in the ring and have him dry out. It's not as if he does much with those legs pre-fight. It could help catch Arreola dry and cold.

If anything he was oversold. He was nothing ever than a glorified gatekeeper who somehow got title shot after title shot.

He maybe a student of the sport like you say but he doesn't show it. His skills are basic, he relies too much on his power because he doesn't have other tools in a.rsenal other than his power and courage. No defence, poor footwork, predictable, no counter punching, if he's a student of boxing he gets an F.

His lack of conditioning and self discipline doesn't alter the fact he simply doesn't have the skills to compete at the top level.

Arreola is no good. And even if was once average his last few fights has shown he's past prime.

Szpilka and Johan Duphuas were much harder challenges.
