He doesn`t look 12 in this footage, but how many fighters could have beat a 23 year old when they were 12 years old?

No way, Tyson was far more skilled than Forreman was as an amateur. George wasn`t that good at 22 when he struggled with Peralta, Tyson`s progress was far quicker than Goerge`s was.

Foreman was good enough to win a golden medal at Olympics.

He didn`t look that good in that bout and his opponent was crap. Biggs who beat Tyson to qualify for the `84 olympic team was a better olympic gold medalist than George and was better than George`s opponent.

that was before Cuba and the Eastern European countries became a power in amateur boxing. The U.S. dominated the heavyweight class at that time.

52- Sanders,56 - Rademacher, 64 - Frazier, 68 - Foreman, only in 1960 did the U.S. not win the gold, that year Percy Price was upset in an early fight.

Frazier was but he was killed!
Again style makes fights and even at those age Foreman would beat Tyson!
Foreman would beat many guys and became Olympic winner while Tyson struggled to Junior Olympics!Holyfield beat this Tyson in sparing and also some bum and George would kill him!
At that age while Tyson struggled with tomato cans Foreman used to lift 300lb cows in his shoulders and spar with Sonny Liston!
Again 17 years old Foreman would kill this Tyson!
Foreman was even at that age bigger and twice stronger and he became Olympic winner!

Again Tyson did beat Biggs but Biggs beat him also!
And he struggled to even Jr Olympics and Evander beat him in sparing!
Tysin maybe beat Tyrell Biggs but was knicked by some bum!And atthat Age Foreman won all his bouts with ko,didn't cry, spar with,Sonny Liston, lift cows around....even at that age he was much stringer than Tyson!
Tysin could not even make it to Olympics and Foreman won them!
His oponents was very good than green scared Biggs and he used to spar with legendary Sonny Liston while Liston would kill this Tyson in sparing!
Again Foreman was even at that age much stribger and would push Tysin around like a ping pong ball!

Biggs was a Super Heavyweight in the Olympics. Tyson was campaigning as a Heavyweight and lost two fights against Henry Tillman. Tillman and Biggs both won Gold in 1984. Biggs did not take Tyson’s spot nor did he face him as an amateur. Tillman beat Tyson to earn his spot as the Heavyweight representative for the United States. Biggs was the representative in the super heavyweight division for the United States

While Tyson wasn’t good enough to beat Henry Tillman to earn a spot on the Olympic team.

I figure George would probably have decapitated Tillman in the amateurs.

I’m not sure what the point is here but it tells me that Foreman had to go through a lot tougher ranks as an amateur to represent the U.S. at the Olympics ... and then he had to go through all the rest of the world.

For the gold he beat the Soviet Union representative (Lithuanian-born Jonas Cepulis), who was 10 years his elder (those guys just stayed amateur forever as they couldn’t turn pro — but under their system their job was boxing and they didn’t have to work to feed themselves or pay rent, etc.) with some 200 bouts under his belt ... dude was winning national titles four years before George ever put on a pair of gloves. George went 22-4 in the amateurs and was damned near killing guys at the Olympic level.
