This content is protected Prime Golovkin is a Top 3 GOAT middleweight, deal with it. Sanchez said they want to rewrite history at 160, but at the age of 37 it’s nearly impossible I think.
And one more thing, even if boxing is quite dead at the moment, it’s still a top sport, but boxing is a top sport only because they have true fighters like Golovkin, those type of guys who want to make fights to happen, offensive, aggressive entertaining fighters. The businessman, the avoiders doesn’t bring fans to the tables.
You are a notorious “new generation fighters” hater, so nothing to say to you. I like your videos, I think you know boxing well, but you are in love to the old days of boxing.
It was a great reign by GGG . . . until he ran into Canelo. Canelo walked right through GGG ending the Big Drama Show. All GGG fans can do now is cry and wonder "What IF". GGG could have gone down in history undefeated but GGG just couldn't beat Canelo. Canelo beat the Champion out of him. After 24 rounds with Canelo, GGG is left a broken man, physically and mentally, with no titles, no longer the best Middleweight in the World, sitting looking up at Canelo who is now the Undisputed Best Middleweight in the World.
I'm a notorious "new generation fighters" hater? Really? Look, I'm not saying my opinion is any more valid than yours or anyone else's, and I appreciate the support. But I think your username betrays you here, and I'm hard-pressed to see a reasonable argument for GGG as a top 3 middleweight, especially considering the rich history of this weight class. Top 3? His resume and accomplishments don't stack up for me, nor does the "eye test". Of course his career isn't over yet, so he still has time to improve his standing (or, on the flip side, his standing can still take a hit and fall). The book isn't closed yet on GGG, but top 3 is quite the stretch as I see it.
Gennady is 36 years old. The same age Mayweather was when he beat Canelo. Sergio Martinez had a career defining win at 35 and another one at 37. Carl Froch had a career defining win pushing 38. Gennady has plenty of options to boost his legacy. Beating Charlo would make a big statement. He'd be praised to high heaven if he moved up and beat Callum Smith. Both those fights are easily available to him. Whats he waiting for!
I appreciate GGG’s legacy and enjoy watching him. He is (maybe still?) great and will be remembered well. It is a bit premature to rate him in any ATG conversation and we should enjoy whatever he has left and let him retire for 3-5 years before we can fairly assess him and this era. MW is one of the deepest divisions in boxing and it will likely prove hard for GGG to enter a top 10 (maybe 20 conversation). That is not meant as a knock on him, but rather has a balanced perspective of the depth of this division through the years. Rather than deride rummy for finding this claim laughable, and chastising him as on old timer lover...well maybe you could take some time to get more fluent in the history of boxing. Monzon Hagler Greb SRR are just the tip of what he has to be evaluated against. If it makes you happy or helps you to sleep at night viewing GGG as the greatest or even top 3 by all means have away. But if you bother to review the history of this division you are likely to find that Rummy’s view is quite sound...and if there is a laughable biased opinion here it is likely yours. In the meantime I will enjoy the twilight of GGG’s career and assess him a few years down the road...so enjoy the ride, GGG will be missed when he retired....worry about his legacy later
I agree GGG has some time left for some big wins. But Roy Jones Jr was 35 when he got knocked out by both Antonio Tarver, and Glen Johnson Roy Jones Jr was 36 when he lost again to Antonio Tarver Roy Jones Jr was 39 when he lost to Joe Calzaghe Roy Jones Jr was 40 when he got knocked out by Danny Green So Jones Jr's record and ATG standing should be massively affected by that
