I came across this little nugget on youtube earlier this evening. Mike Schutte is probably unknown to many on this board, so a little backround info is in order. Schutte was nicknamed 'The Tank' and once you see him fight and see his build, you won't wonder why. Coetzee fought at around 215 lbs. generally and it's said in the video that Schutte had a 25 kilogram weight advantage, so I'm guessing that Scutte weighed about 270 lbs. here. He lacked ring science for the most part, but was a rough and ready fighter that used his great strength and weight to bully and maul his opponents in the corners and along the ropes. His best punch was the left hook. He hovered around the fringes of a world rating for a spell and for a few months in 1977, there was even talk of him fighting Muhammad Ali. Talk of this unlikely matchup ended when Schutte walked into a big overhand right from Kallie Knoetze, who knocked him out cold and effectively finished Schutte as a fighter. Coetzee and Schutte had fought once before, in a filthy fight that was so foul-infested, that Schutte was eventually disqualified. Coetzee is extremely wild in this rematch, and I think that this is in part due to the bad blood that carried over from the first fight. This is the fight in which Coetzee ended up breaking both his hands, and his hands were to give him tremendous problems from this point on. It's also interesting to note that Coetzee, not known for his stamina, showed pretty good endurance right throughout this 12 rounder, especially considering the difficulties in fighting a man so much heavier. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcVRqD154i8
