Maybe it's also got to do with his next fight being at 164. This is his first ever match above 160 lbs right, maybe having that cushion of those extra couple of pounds has him in better condition. It'll be interesting to see if he returns to 160 again or if he will stay as a SMW.

They say Golovkin is a small middleweight but he always looked terrible during weight cut

He's making the changes he needs to in order to evolve as he ages. He was getting stagnant and was losing aspects of his game under Abel.

I'm still not sold on Banks as a top level trainer, but this is a step in the right direction. Maybe Banks has improved, as I thought he was mainly just a figurehead in his run with Wlad.

Banks has a solid game plan. Back to the basics, build momentum and hold it consistently. I now think if GGG evolves more to this slick style that he will never get knocked out. They make him retire on his stool but he will never get knocked out.

Yeah, some training footage is not enough to make such claims. Age is not just a number.

and it is very possible to change styles late in a career. I mean look at what Apollo did for Rocky. He made him a slick black fighter, proving Paulie wrong. ;)

i dont think ggg can fight like this for 12 rounds, this style looks like it demands alot of energy and stamina, but we'll see. banks looks like a good trainer though, love his style of mittwork.

This. I’m also not sold on Banks as a top level trainer. He’s an excellent assistant trainer, but doesn’t seem to have it in him to correct top fighters when he trains them. Futch, Steward, Turner, Rooney, etc... had no problem correcting their fighters and giving them constructive criticism, since they didn’t give a squat how big a star their fighter was. In my opinion Wlad didn’t seem to respect Banks as a coach, but more as a buddy filling space in the corner.

 @ people saying there's some dramatic change over a 6 minute clip.

NO ONE has noticed the Steve Rolls around his waist? GGG has never looked older...

There sure were robbery cries, but I'm referring to the other excuse as to why Canelo won : that G became too old, that he wasn't prime anymore. But in this topic we're hearing about how GGG could be undergoing a transformation under his new trainer lol.
