Precisely. That's how I view the Beterbiev Smith fight going down personally. Beterbiev being the more thudding puncher with skill. And Smith being the bigger pure banger.

    Darnell Boone on GGG's power

'Ola Afolabi said to Sky Ringside “I think it’s going to be a knockout. The guy [Golovkin] hits incredibly hard. I’ve been in the ring with heavyweights, cruiserweights, light heavyweights, and I get in the ring with this kid and every time he hits me, I say whoa!''

Ryan Coyne (former CW now LHW)

''He’s a ****** beast,” said Coyne, a 20-0 cruiserweight prospect who has recently dropped down to light heavyweight. “He’s been running guys out of here. Nobody under 175 pounds will spar with him.''

“I’ve sparred with heavyweights who can punch, including Mariusz Wach and Mike Perez, nobody has hit me as hard as Golovkin. His power is out of this world.”

''I spent my summer up in Big Bear training with Gennady Golovkin who is emerging as the most murderous puncher in the boxing. I watched former champions, light heavies, cruisers, and even heavies get sent home.''

    David Imoesiri HW

“The dude can hit, I’m still getting used to it,” said Imoesiri, who like Coyne, is delightfully bright and articulate. “It’s crazy. I sparred with [undefeated WBA heavyweight beltholder] Alexander Povetkin and he never hurt me like this guy.''

“I must have done 50 rounds while in camp with Povetkin and it was three and half weeks before he hit me with something that made me hold on. With Golovkin I was ready to get out of the ring 45 seconds into our first round of sparring. He hit me with two lefts to the body in the identical spot and had me doubled over. I got through it but it’s hard to defend against 6-inch punches with that much pop. He backs me into a corner with just a jab.

“And it seems like he does it effortlessly.”

''The guy hits like a hammer. I tried everything, but it did not work. You have to give him credit, because he had a good handle on the situation and it was an honor to meet him in the ring. Even though I lost every round, I wanted to fight on. [Early on] it seemed to me that I was resistant to punches, but eventually they caught up with me. For each subsequent start, I went out out with another plan, trying to surprise him, but he is really great," Proksa said.

"I have never felt that type of power anywhere, not in sparring or anywhere."

    --Grzegorz Proksa

“The rumors are true, Gennady Golovkin is an animal. I’ve never been hit as hard from anybody else and I’ve sparred heavyweights”

    "Golovkin hits like a sledgehammer"

    -- Sergey Kovalev

''Gennady Golovkin is the hardest puncher I've ever been in there with. This dude can hit, man! He can punch for real. And I've been in there with Edison Miranda (and Kid Chocolate) and some guys that can punch. This dude can punch like crazy.''

    --Tyrell Hendrix

"Golovkin's fist is as hard as stone"

--Ryota Murata (Olympic gold medalist at MW)

''It was the toughest camp I have been in. He [Golovkin] hits like a heavyweight all over''

--Dhafir Smith (Smith has spent time in camp sparring Adonis Stevenson, Andre Ward. Lucian Bute, Zsolt Erdei, Eddie Chambers and Edwin Rodriguez among others)

I think Beterbiev hits harder than Smith period but Smith has better leverage and snap on his shots

All these fighters were not paid to say Golovkin has power, no denying that the stories of him sparking heavyweights were true. Also is a testament of how good Canelo's chin is.

He fights everyone so no doubt he will get round to them but lower case g won’t even consider fighting them after all the bully wants to fight smaller guys or those who are no challenge like Murata.

I mean, sure, he fights everyone. Question is when and in what condition, but everyone. Eventually.

GGG is a little like Maidana

Prime Maidana probably had a little more workrate.

Which is a devastating style to deal with when a natural thudding puncher has a high output. You have to use your feet.

His combinations were very impressive against Murata. I've said this multiple times, they wanted this fight for years because it would make Golovkin look great, and it did.

I agree with this. Golovkin was allowed to display his full arsenal, which we have rarely seen for an extended period of time in a fight.
