Rigondeaux looks good here, but I have exhaustively analyzed his style and I conclude that he will fail at Euro-level. His style is tailor made for the tough, European mode of boxing that prevails in the sport today.

Who is this guy always bragging about the European fighters all the time? :huh He seems to forget that the Cubans are the #1 Latin Country winning Gold medals at the World Championships, Olympics, PanAm games, Goodwill games etc. Keeping in mind that Cuba has only 11 million people, and they are on par in World Titles and Olympic Gold with giants such are Russia, Kazastan, Ukraine, Germany, Uzbekistan, Rumania etc.

My friend, instead of putting down everyone that is not " European ", analyze yourself the facts first. The Cubans are not just any other Country, they have been on par with the Euro giants and many times have even outperformed them in Gold medals...

    What's your point ??? :-(

You make a good poing, Cubans are the only Latin country to compete with European talents. Cuban fighters have the natural talent and ability I have never seen in Mexican and Puerto Rican boxers. Cuban boxers are, in my opinion, what American fighters used to be. I will give you that. But that does not effect my conclusion that Rigondeaux's style will prove ineffective when he faces the highly technical European style, which I beleive will exploit his lack of defense, cockiness, and inactivity.

Yes, the commentator was continually comparing Rigondeaux with Whitaker. In a way it's true, they are very similar but Rigondeaux was way better than Whitaker at the International amateur events.

I will say this about Rigondeaux: He is a totally different fighter than the rest of the Cuban boxers today. He has an unhittable defence, man, no one can hit him! His style is a hit you and you don't hit me style, and because of that not many people will like him. He is not as exciting to watch as Gamboa, Lara, Ugas etc but he is actually better than them in the defence and counterpunching department, but he needs to attack more!

He is unhittable, the Mexican guy did'nt know how to hit him or even get in the match. Now, I think that Rigondeaux wanted the rounds as he only went 1 round in his last fight against Landeros 4 or 5 months ago. So, people get use to Rigondeaux's style, he may not be that exciting but he is " untouchable " in the ring and will beat anyone at 122lbs or even 126lbs, his only real challange will come from Cuban teammate Yuriorkis Gamboa...

Thank you for giving credit where is due. I agree with you, the Cubans are the only Latin Country to shine against the Europeans. But to say that Rigo will fail is not smart from your part. What happens is that he is so good, confident, talented and experienced that he just plays with his opponents. Last night, he was actually playing around with the Mexican fighter, and Rigo only had 5 pro fights!

Who do you think from the Euros that will beat him at 122lbs or 126lbs? :good

Man, Rigo's skills are absolutely sick. Feints, spacing, footwork, parries...beautiful stuff.

I don't think you can say Rigo wanted the rounds. I don't think he was able to knock that guy out earlier, and if he could he would have. You gotta give the other guy credit for lasting 6 rounds and shouldn't make excuses.

Yeah, the man is real " ghost " in the ring. That's what happens when you have 300+ amateur fights, 2 Olympic Golds, 6 World Championships and 6 Cuban National Championships. Plus, Rigondeaux was the best amateur for 10 straight years !!! :good
