I don't agree with you, Rigo looked bored at times. Rigondeaux had like 4 or 5 months of innactivity since knocking out Landeros with one body shot in the first round. He definitely needed the rounds, and remember, not all Cubans fight like Gamboa ( aggressive KO artist ), Rigondeaux is a different breed, that's the way he won so many World Titles in the amateur, with his incredible defence and counterpunching !!! Now, he needs to keep it going and keep fighting at least every month. Heck, he should fight twice a month if possible. No doubt, Rigondeaux will be World Champion in less than 10 pro fights !!! :good
Such contrast on style between Gamboa & Rigo. Be nice to see Rigo step up though, someone at that level shouldnt be fighting guys of that level. He fought better a opponent 2 fights ago.
I agree wholeheartedly. This can't be good for his wallet either. A step up would be beneficial in more ways than one.
I like Rigo alot, but right now he isn't able to take out all his opponents in one round even if he's padding his record. He's not that kind of fighter. I'm not saying he can't improve that aspect of his game, but he isn't there right now.
Beranza's fight history - BoxRec http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=15168&cat=boxer looks like Beranza's a legitimate B-class fighter. His last 4/5 fights have been for WBO, WBA, WBC minor belts. He's been stopped only once in the past 10years, a KO in the 5th round. Pretty ****ing legitimate step-up fight to me. Rigondeaux is lined up to be Pacquiao's undercard...
Count me in as a member of the Guillermo Rigondeaux bandwagan. The defensive show in the sixth round was great. He beat a guy who had 53 fights compared to his 5. He has great defense he has power. He's not going to have the career he could have had if he turned pro at say 20. However 29 is not too old for him to have an outstanding career.
hopefully he doesnt fall short of expectations the advantage in his present career is maturity - both in strength and skills but i strongly believe that Rigondeaux has the GOODZ... in abundance. He's practically won every gold and championship on the amateur level that can be won. And a 2-time olympic champion, 7time cuban national champion. He HAS been dominant, on the amateur arena. Now he gets to prove his abilities on the pro level. he didnt really zone in on the body as much like his previous fights. That mighta ended it too quickly though lol....
Beranza was a decent test don't let his record fool you he only faces top tier fighters between 118-126 and he consistently gives them hard fights even winning on occasion. Personally I hope Guillermo isn't pushed to hard to fast I think he needs one more fight before stepping up to the elite level at 122. He should take on either Giovanni Caro or Jonathon Oquendo next.
You don't think Rigo is ready for a guy like Mtagwa? I think its a good scalp and a style that plays right into his hands.
Mtagwa would be a decent test do it over 10. But I would not stick him anywhere near Poonswat yet and I would give him at least one or maybe even two fights before I stuck him in with Nishioka, Molitor, Vasquez Jr or Cordoba other then that I feel he is ready for anybody at 122.
He is going to have major problems in the pros with that right hand. Instead of bringing it up and being able to counter with right hooks and jabs he has to lean all the way back and swing to the right to reset. Just makes no sense why he would keep that hand all the way down with his speed. Bute does that but in a much more controlled fashion. He can't do anything or fire back like that. Surprised they didn't work on that and with so many amateur fights it maybe hard to adjust that. Don't see how that is going to help him and he does not have any real power. I see the potential but hope he is not an amazing amateur on his way to an iffy pro career. I do see his potential just wish he would polish that up and he could do real damage. Wish him the best. Thanks for the videos bro.
