I feel bhop has been underrated lately.
His work at middleweight is brushed off compared to Hagler and Monzon (same for ggg).
And his sccomplishments at 40+ are not as talked about as they should be.
Mostly I think cause he ruined fighters after beating them and they were not the most fanpleasing wins.

However, besides being an ATG I rank him third of the greatest boxers since say Duran.
    Behind Pac and Floyd.
He overcame the odds several times and turned back the clock way more than he should have.
His wins vs Tarver, Pavlik, Winky, Pascal, Cloud, Murad and Shumenov were impressive wins given the circumstances.

Take in mind that hos losses were controversial and or very close as well.
He beat Taylor the first time at least in my book.

Basically from Roy Jones loss in the mid 90's till Dawson/Kovalev he wasnt clearly beaten or it was very close imo.
That conbined with his middleweight run and the over coming the odds wins makes him underrated nowadays compared with how he should be viewed.

It's so amazing that turning 40 he would still have a decade of top performances, fighting for major titles, 2 divisions higher than his younger career.

That's on pair od better than Foremans 2 amazing separate runs.

Thank you for the video rummy, I love them.

The Executioner was one of my boxing heroes when I stopped watching european boxing and started to discover the world scene. One of those guys you try to mimic in the gym when you are a kid and you are training. Thank you for making this video about him.

Doesn't change the fact that what he did was extremely impressive. He's a lock for the top 10 at 160 and that's very hard to do considering it's arguably the strongest division historically.

I agree with that. The way you responded to the other guy made it seem like you were disagreeing with what he said. I guess I interpreted that wrong.

If Fury accomplished half of what BHop did, he would be 4 times the fighter he is now.

Great video Rummy! Hopkins was truly special and although some of his later fights were a bit boring, he did what needed to be done to secure a 'W' at all costs. His career had it all, from exciting brawls to masterful displays of defense & in-fighting - Bhop had a huge bag of tricks to draw from. He also got shafted against Calzaghe imo.

the back n forth between Calzaghe and his dad after the 11th was truly vintage bhop. How they go from that to acting as though they won is classic.
Dad: wtf are you doing? Joe: he’s cheyting dad: you need a knockout
Round 12 doesn’t get the job done
    After the fight
Dad: you got your ass kicked by a white boy
    Lmao
Wtf is dads definition of ass kicked. Bhop didn’t have a mark on his face. Joe looked like he got in a bad car accident with no seatbelt and went face first through the windshield.
    Vintage bhop
