didn't feel right posting this in the general forum..after having seen the movie "ALI" (which was horrible, nobody can carry the charisma of Ali) I was inspired by the song at the end to make a highlight tribute to this amazing fight..my first attempt..I know that my videos can never be on a Gorilla Productions kind of level but i still hope to contribute something back to the boxing world, as it has given me so much. Cuts, flow, commentary. One of the simplest and most powerful tools to add to a highlight is the commentary. It doesn't have to constant, either. But adding commentary can help add the intensity to a video. The hardest part of a new editor is knowing where to make cuts, how, etc. The ideal in editing is to have seamless cuts. Crossfades is a easy method to try editing clip to clips. It's much more difficult for me to edit and cut clips within a fight highlight than say a film or a recent HBO fight. HBO has many angles, replays, etc. At the same time, that would be my advice. You can check some of my sport highlights/videos if you would like. Hope the advice helps. Youtube.com/IronTapeProductions By the way, I'll probably be making an Ali vs Foreman highlight one day too.
Ive seen your videos before, along with GP. Most of these video-edited clips are so inspirational and entertaining, as hard as it is to create lol. The stuff you guys put out is really something else, props..what type of video-editing software do you use, if you dont mind me asking. I use VegasPro but i cant seem to figure out how to slow clips down or mess around with them. Much appreciated analysis, thanks. I look forward to more of your videos.
When you start out, most people think "I need the best of the best." Truthfully, Vegas Pro is a get video editing software that allows you to do a lot. You can do a lot with even less of a program. Even I haven't expanded all my imagination can to do with the program. I use Vegas Pro 8 by the way. If you right click the footage you'll see there's a speed rate. You can decrease it making it for 1.000 to .6 to slow it down, and 1.5 to speed up. You can slow it down and speed it up at whatever rate you look though. Glad you enjoy my videos. Those are the type of comments every editor or video-maker loves to hear. GP is pretty insane. He has a great knack at storytelling and I like his use of font. That's one of my weak points. I've got some stuff coming out soon, though, just been lazy. And just keep practicing if you want to keep on with it. It's a pretty good creative outlet. Sometimes a bit frustrating and tedious, though. Like everything, though, practice makes for improvement.
