Ward would also smother Toney on the inside every chance he got, disrupting him from getting any rhythm going (he's great at that). James gets frustrated and outworked down the stretch imo.

Ward is my man 100 grand but Toney would beat his ass prime for prime.

Ward would have to be on his bike for this one.

this. JT is probably more dangerous while getting backed up. still don't know if Ward would be quick enough for Toney.

Toney would land easily on Ward if the fight was an inside game, also Ward would not be able to muscle Toney around like most of his opponents he faces.

Ward would also give Toney little to counter against, he's not going to come out swinging like he did against Dawson at times. I can see him circling Toney and landing one or two shots before tying him up/retreating to a safe distance for the most part, using his advantages in both footspeed and movement to their full effect. Toney would have his moments though, he isn't really an easy ask for anyone barring a prime Roy Jones.

He won't stay on the inside and give Toney that many chances to get to work though, as soon as he senses danger he'll tie him up and force him to reset. Ward looks surprisingly strong to me, he manhandled Froch in the clinches, and Froch isn't exactly a schoolboy himself. I'm not sure either guy has a real clear strength advantage here.

Ward would be in the mix for certain, but he does rush in.Toney does so much sparring that he rarely seems phased by inside fighting or dirty tricks.I'd take a prime Toney over ward by ko (shame he got so fat,a real shame, one of the best)

Anyone who sees this as anything other than a close fight is either seriously underrating Ward or overrating Toney.

Styles make fights but ultimately a prime James was technically superior in all areas. James is no joke. ..However, his bread and butter is his inside game....he ain't half the inside fighter James is. Andre would knock out a few corners but James would put the lights out.
