Jorge Linares shadow boxes and works the timing bag in this 5 min video. Love linares footwork and hand speed. He was winning the De Marco fight but he got all macho, sucks I would of loved to seen him matched up against Marquez.

Not to hate on Linares or the TS, but I actually think he's got really poorly educated feet.
It's definitely an area where Roach should focus on. Come to think of it, most of his fighters lack a good base.

I think his lateral movement is really good. He seems to **** around with his feet unnecessarily in training, but setting up angles against DeMarco brought him great success. Khan largely relies on his feet for defense, as does Manny, and while they have their flaws, they do pretty well for themselves.

Both Khan and Manny seem to go through tremendous footwork drills in training camp with Ariza. They have good athletic resistance and it's obvious they concentrate their efforts on the principle that they need to out punch or out work their opponents. Which is fine. But the fact that they use those same leg movements to jump out of range instead of smaller subtle inside movements tells me that defense and proper/economic foot movement is secondary or mainly only a side effect of the same drills they use for offense.
Or maybe Roach naturally knows how to pick offensive minded fighters and that overwhelming offense is what overshadows defense in my eyes. Could be just my point of view and experience on boxing that's blocking proper judgement.
Then again, it's not really about offense or defense. It's the fact that their feet tend to make unneeded or misplaced steps. Hard to explain :(

Looks like Linares was messing around on the timing bag. I think he has great footwork and uses angles really well. He decided to go macho man status in the de marco fight and that ultimately cost him the bout. I am sure he will learn from that, hopefully Linares becomes a huge superstar in the next few years.

If I could have ANY pro fighter to train, I'd want this guy. Followed by Cotto.

Linares is great, love watching him fight... he has a very pleasing style to the eye. I think he beats DeMarco in a rematch without too much trouble, barring another freak cut.

I think Linares is going to dump freddie as a trainer. so sad to see someone with so much talent lose the way he does.

He is sacrificing power for speed. Look at his technique.

They should line him up with a bum. He.needs his confidence back. He has the tools, and I hope he comes around. He's one of my favorite fighters, love his style.

According to Nacho Beristain he believes that Linares will end up being a great boxer at the end, once he gets his mental state in order...
