Add Jeffries to that list Meh, I don't think Seamus is actually racist (at least I would hope so for his sake), I think he just woefully overrates his own definition of athleticism + fighting black fighters (even if the era had no noteworthy black fighters) Believe it or not he fanboys many non black fighters such as Fitzsimmons, Steele, Wladimir and Chavez
Excellent video Rummy and i like the way you keep them short, matter of factly and on point. Thanks for taking the time out to not only put together these video's but also to make sure we don't miss them in here.
Is this directed at me? I noticed you made a point to make the same quip in my other thread for this video. Out of all the boxing videos I've done this is only the 2nd one that was exclusively dedicated to Marciano, so I'm not entirely sure why you'd accuse me of "ignoring the thousands of other champs who came before and since".
It seemed totally legit to me. Jersey Joe wasn't effectively creating distance in this one, but seemed to be trying his best to outmaneuver Rocky inside (something he frequently did in their first bout, but that was usually a secondary type tactic then). That left hook was immediately followed by an uppercut, where in slow-mo, you can definitely see Joe's neck snap. My general feeling is that first bout with Rocky took a lot out of Walcott.
Interesting. Thanks for posting. I had never seen this before, but I definitely thought that sneaky follow-up uppercut was what amplified the damage.
