Escobedo was landing his jab almost at will, and he was buzzed by a straight left from DeMarco in one of the early rounds. He's not difficult at all to hit.

He's difficult to hit. Not as difficult as Maywether but his defense in this era is superb

He has a very good guard, but he's very stiff, and he's either all the way on his front foot, weight wise, or all the way on his back foot. He was eating jabs from Escobedo, and Demarco was landing on the outside. Them problem when he shoulder rolls, is that he doesn't move his upper body enough, and that's the entire purpose of defense in that manner. Either to roll the lead hand off the shoulder(or catch it with the elbow or lead glove), and fully slip the back hand.(against a southpaw, that is). He didn't have any problem with the jab of Demarco because it was directly in front of the shoulder, but when he was supposed to slip the left from Demarco, he couldn't. Because he doesn't have the instincts of a Toney or Mayweather.

Floyd has been working on that style(sholder roll, "extremely defensive") since he was a 3 or 4 year old baby. Yes, it is much more ingrained and polished in him.

Broner has barely adopted this style barely 3 years ago. What he has been able to achieve in melding the style with how he formerly fought, is intriguing.

19 year old, pre-shoulder roll Broner. Hellacious left counter:

Mayweather is better all around. Broner dose have faster hands though. He younger though. On diffrance I noticed from the DeMarco fight was when he was on the ropes, DeMarco was able to touch him. If it was Mayweather I don't think he'd been touched.
The other thing is that Mayweather has a way of whiping out that right hand of his from the shoulder roll.

Okay now point out all the fights Floyd was hit cleanly and clearly rocked in...everyone gets hit genius...and Escobedo did not land a jab at will, that's just ignorant to say...and no I didn't see Broner buzzed by anything Demarco threw yes he got hit and that's because he didn't respect his power and he accomplished what he wanted walked him down and stopped him, try again...

By the way he limited De Leon to 21%, Eloy to 26% total, Escobedo 25% total punches landed, Demarco 26% total punches landed with Broner landing 58%, 44%, 53% & 36% respectfully, since when is a mid twenties connect percentage considered easy to hit or hit at will? Not to mention they landed more to the body than head...

  10. This is how I feel about it. Mayweather is a NATURAL at what he does, it's like it's part of his instincts and DNA already to fight and react like he does. With Broner it's like he is trying to emulate the style, and while he is quite good at doing so it's just not natural if you know what I mean. Like mistakes are bound to happen at some point.

I do think however that he will get good enough at it where he'll pretty much master the style. I just think he is more vulnerable than Floyd is due to what I mentioned above.

What I'm trying to point out to these other dudes is Broner is not easy to hit at al, he has as it stands in boxing today at least a top 5 defense and this is with him sitting in front of opponents for the most part, dude said Escobedo landed the jab almost at wil when yea he landed a few clean jabs but 19% jab percentage is laughable and far from almost at will...

Yes, but Floyd isn't being hit consistently like Broner is. Everyone remembers the Mosley shot in round 2. Or the Corley shot in round 4..That's how rare it is to see Floyd get caught cleanly. By the way, it's very unfair to compare Broner to Floyd anyway. Floyd is a special special talent who has been fighting since he could walk. Broner's never going to get close to that, and he can still have a hall of fame career.

Personally I don't want to see him fully adapt Floyd's style, as it stands IF he can keep winning, moving up beating the elite and winning titles then he has the opportunity to be as successful or more so than Floyd, because he can make exciting fights and he is stopping opponents, plus he has his fair share of haters which also brings more exposure and fame, IMO he adopted the shell defense because he has the speed to make it work and reap the defensive benefits from it, it's a great defense if you can pull it off and he can, but other than the defense the way he throws punches and his offense is just him...

You can watch the fights to see none of those fighters landed anything eye catching nor did they land consistently in the least, none of them, don't need compubox to know that...but it's okay if it fit your agenda you would no doubt use it, Broner is one of the best defensive fighters in the game today and realistically number 3 only behind Floyd & Ward deal with it...
