Then you know(if you have actually seen all of Floyd's fights) there were several fights when Floyd was hit, often. And took more damage than Broner does, when he(Broner) is supposedly taking all these shots.
That's not the the argument/comparison, to compare abilities to execute those skills on the different level of opposition is weak. I can shoulder roll with any person odd the street, but put my in the ring and ill get tagged all day.
Thing is, Broner is doing everything right, so far. Floyd's style is not considered "fan friendly", almost precisely because he is viewed as "not wanting to get hit", as odd as that sounds. No, ultimately, it is good if Broner never becomes "as good as Floyd" defensively. Especially as long as he is perceived to be better than Floyd on offense, at least from a developmental viewpoint.
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xscn53_adrien-broner-vs-vicente-escobedo-2012-07-21_sport?start=275 First round in: Escobedo jabbing to the shoulder to force Broner to react. He hits Broner 3 times on that shoulder when Broner is at range. Broner switches to the high guard at range and back to the lifted shoulder when closer. Escobedo switches his jab back up through the center and lands it once Broner goes high. 2nd Round: Escobedo's jab again getting through the center of the high guard. Broner's body is static. Escobedo gets caught with a left hook trying to lead with the right and Broner jumps on him. What happens toward the end of the round? Escobedo landing his jab through the center of the high guard again. Round 3: Broner goes back to the shoulder roll at distance and Escobedo goes right back to jabbing the front shoulder. Escobedo closes the gap and lands his first looping right over the shoulder. Broner leans back on his back foot, so he can't react in time to slip it. @ 13:38 Escobedo square with Broner so there is no angle. he lands the right hand right over Broner's shoulder. Broner lacks upper body movement. 1 minute left in the 2nd round, Escobedo closes the gap and takes the angle away. Lands the jab again I just did the first 3 rounds where he was most competitive and before Broner overwhelmed him.
The defense of Adrian and Mayweather are similar because Adrian chose to adopt that type of defense and he uses it well, other than that, they are two totally different fighters. Punch selection and offensive approach is different. I'm confident that he will be great fighter but drawing parallels between him and Floyd ends at defense. It's not a knock on Adrian but I don't think he will ever master the game like Floyd. By the way, why is that defense referred to as the Philly Shell?:bbb:bbb
That fight was never all that competitive and you highlighting jabs to the shoulder, come on quit knit picking son, Broner beat the breaks off Vincente to the point they had to stop it, he land a few clean jabs like I admitted before, Broner adapted and ultimately KO'ed him... These two had never faced one another, a good/great fighter adapts and that's what Adrien did, landing jabs to a shoulder and a few clean jabs to the face is hardly competitive especially when you lose every round and get stopped mid rounds...
By the way you pointed out 2 right hands landed and a handful of jabs...is that your idea of Broner getting hit at will or is easy to hit? Name me one fighter who gets hit zero percent throughout the fight...name me three fighters in or around Broners weight besides Floyd who has a better defense, don't worry...I'll wait..
That is a technique to force Broner to react to it. Either by trying to counter over or move his feet to a position. Roy Jones used the left hook to Eric Harding's shoulder very similarly.
