Like I said at the time, very legal shot but cheap as ****..

You hear Cortex clearly say "don't be doing that, Lets Go" and brings his hands together to indicate fight on.

He then turns to the timekeeper to tell him to start the clock but lingers too long doing it,

While this is happening, watch Floyds hands, he brings them up into the ready position and returns to a boxing stance, Victor doesn't, he puts hands out into a lets hug again position (despite being told to fight on and having touched gloves several times already), Mayweather for an instance looks as if he almost goes into the reconcilitory embrace but has in fact already made his mind up what he will do.

After briefly touching gloves, he drops his hands, plants himself and throws the left hook that stuns Ortiz. Cortez is STILL looking at the timekeeper. Seeing his opponent stunned he loads up and finishes him off.

Now, yes Floyd could have done the "Shane Mosley" touch gloves thing a billion times and he could have waited 10 seconds till Ortiz readied himself but legally he doesn't have to.

It's not a satisfying end to the fight or the most sportsman like thing, it is what it is... Ortiz learned a hard lesson.

I don't think there's a need for a rematch, Ortiz was getting schooled ... although from what I saw Floyd has slowed down a step or two. His hands & mind are still as fast as ever though.

    What he said!

But I will add why is it a cheap shot?

Ref had said BOX ON! What is Floyd supposed to do, wait until Ortiz had stopped apologising for being a dick in the first place?

No. This is boxing beat the sh1t out of him. Ortiz is an idiot A) for doing such a horrible foul that Andre Ward would be proud of and B) For not PROTECTING HIMSELF AT ALLLLLL TIMES!!!!

No need for a rematch, Ortiz had 0 chance.

The only reason I say it was cheap was because in the split second before he throws the punch, he looks like he is going to do the hug thing. I think that was a cynical act and he knew exactly what he was going to do to get revenge for the headbutt. So you could say he lulled Ortiz out of a defensive mindset in order to catch him unprotected.

If Ortiz hadn't just intentionally - repeat, intentionally - headbutted Floyd, you'd be right. If you're going to throw headbutts, keep your gloves up. Floyd is under absolutely no obligation to "play nice" after someone tries to cut him/cause swelling/injure him intentionally, illegally.

As far as I can tell watching that Cortez clearly told them to fight, he just turned away which was a dumb move on his part. I don't see how Floyd did anything wrong myself.

Amateur mistake from Ortiz. Ortiz broke the rules, floyd just did what he had to do.

How many times did Ortiz have to say sorry for? My god, how embarassing.

Number one Ortiz was dominated like expected, couldn't avoid punches flyin at him from all angles without doing anything but jumping on him, punching sloppy and clearly tryin to headbutt the better boxer. Number two Mayweather is a classless piece of garbage cause he's not proving anything for doing that, sooner or later he would catch the cherry picked titlist and he not only left hooked him as he came off guard ( like an idiot, Ortiz that is) as he he went for the money shot when Victor was looking away to the distracted ref ( another idiot in Joe Cortez). Number three and finally, Larry once again pushes buttons and lets this cry baby get mad and do a stupid number like that in the post fight interview, Ortiz cashes in, Floyd remains undefeated and a titlist again. End of story.

Hmmm, Ortiz did OK with his left-hand lead. Too bad there are no elite southpaws with a good left-hand lead.

Mayweather took some shots in that 4th round. I don't think I've ever seen him get caught with so many clean shots in a single round.
