Perhaps the $100 is a highball? With things like the internet/social media now they can ****yze what fans/casuals are saying without much trouble. IF they see many people saying they won't buy it because of the high price tag they might reconsider. They may have not even set the $100 in stone and just threw the number out there to see how people react. Maybe this is how you conduct marketing research these days...

All of what you say makes sense. I guess I'm just a cynic these days, and I'd like to believe that incompetence runs rampant in the inner workings of the sport I love.

its what killed the fight from happening all these years, greed. there was too much money to be made from it not happening.:verysad

At the heart of it all, you're right. Greed was the primary reason this never came together (and I feel greed and egos are very closely intertwined as a general rule, and much more so in this bizarre soap opera).

So it should come as no surprise that this unfortunate theme still rings loud and true.

I have a gut feeling that this fight might be orchestrated to help sell the next two, at this point in their careers, what's left to prove besides how much money they can make? I hope I'm wrong...

I hope you're wrong too, especially about it being orchestrated. I can foresee scenarios where one guy does decisively or even dominantly beat the other, but I tend to believe a close fight is more likely, where one's personal "judging style" will be influential in his particular outlook.

If the fight is competitive, as I tend to think it could be, then they may have that selling point on its own.

Last thing boxing needs is some kind of black cloud hovering over the aftermath of this one - ESPECIALLY that they're being a bunch of greedy basta'ds with the price tag to begin with!

i was about to post something like 100 bucks is nothing, if you have a get together, but i cant stand greed and while may and pac deserved to get paid, i find it utterly ridicolous that they get paid so much.

in generel i cant stand pro athletes getting paid so much,as it hurts the fans, those who actually make it possible for these pro athletes to make a living, from their favorite sport.

i use money on silly things, but they are silly things of my choice and i wont support a set of fighters earning around 200 million dollars for a fight.

this is boxings biggest fight in several years, so they should make it a bit about the people too, about the fans, those who make it possible for them top earn a living.

remember, when you tunr fans into customers, you get whiners who look at the product and not at you - the athlete or team.

actually a lot of people think ward can beat wlad. the size difference would be too much.

if there is one man who could beat floyd and pac, its fury. he said he would knock them out in the first round:D

I can see a fix coming.

I think they want to do a second fight of this. Then they want to cash them both out and transfer their draw power to others.

Think about it, neither of them would be the stars they are today without beating DLH...

They need to do the same with Pac and mayweather so the future generation can have PPV stars.

What if a great movie came out and the movie theaters all charged 40 dollars for one ticket? Would you go watch the movie, or would you join other outraged people and stop buying, causing the film-industry people to get real and go back to their normal prices?

Here's why I agree with Rummy. At the cinema, you don't pay more for a movie that had higher production costs. The producers figure that they'll make more money by selling more tickets, not by charging triple for each ticket.

Floyd and Bob Arum are trying to be crafty by charging a lot more than they have ever charged, hoping that fans will give in just this one time. But most people (whether they can afford the price or not) will team up with other fans (even complete strangers from this forum) and make the whole scheme backfire on the promotors.

    Car-pool this event!!!!!!!!

I would never have thought of it in those particular terms in a million years, but I wish I had because that would have been a solid ****ogy to use.

And this I agree with across the board. It's why I hope the fight succeeds on one hand, but that it isn't successful to the point where these guys all start drooling while rubbing their grubby hands together.

I'll take 1996 Golota against both of them at once.
