I never liked Holmes. I thought he was a bully. The stuff with Gerry Cooney and that street fight with the flying kick off the car.

Of course he also beat up an old Ali which he was never forgiven for.


I took a lot of satisfaction out of the manner in which Tyson demolished him. Still gives me a warm glow to this day.

 

Don't believe that for a minute. To me it looked like it was more a case of he was looking beyond Smith and eyeing his big paycheck for a Tyson fight.

 

ive met tim a couple of times last time was 6 months ago with a night with joe frazier. Tim was hammered and had a good laugh with him.

With regards Holmes i liked him never met him but would like to and the fact he beat up Ali notches him up a bit in my likeability for the guy.

Yea that was pretty low. The funeral is Joe Frazier's time, not slagging-off Rocky-Marciano-to-further-my-own-propoganda time. Don't know why the **** Jackson was invited anyway. The twat.

 

That is true Grant, Just bugs me he gets a pass on being a **** cos he could box to a great standard. No man has a right to do what he done but as you say it was one sided more looking from Fraziers POV. But in way was refreshing cos normally it's the other way round.

 

That documentary was based on the book 'Ghosts of Manila'. It was directed by the son of the author Mark 'name is the same backwards' Kram, who is not the most respected guy in the business. It's far too agenda-laden to take seriously.

This pop culture backlash against Ali is kind of interesting though.
