Damn

I'm not surprised that Abel Sanchez likes to work with Eastern European kids.

Imagine there has never been a cold war, no travel bans and stuff. The boxing history would be nothing like today.

The Soviet Union sent experienced boxing coach Andrei Chervonenko to help develop Cuban fighters in order to assist its socialist brethren in their goals. Along with Cuba’s own Alcides Sagarra, Chervonenko helped develop a comprehensive national recruiting and training program based on the Soviet model.
That why Cuba and USSR together with USA has the most medals in olympics.

Very interesting. It would have also been interesting to see the moment when Chervonenko realized that the Cuban fighters he was sent to train had glass jaws more fragile than a Faberge egg, and how he overcame this problem.

You see how good they are at following instructions? It's called discipline.

That mentality carries over very well in a tough physical sport like boxing.
