This classic fight is somewhat overshadowed by the Penn/Uno fight that took place later in the night which is unfair given both men's respective performances. Serra does a great job of mixing up his attack even taking BJ down at one point. BJ stuffs most of Serra's takedown attempts and lands some nasty leg kicks and punches in the process. Overall a very difficult fight to score but I think BJ barely eeks it out in the third.

Do you mean the Din Thomas/Caol Uno fight from later that night?

yep Serra is the opponent who gave Penn the most fit at 155 apart from Pulver

Very good techniqual battle between 2 outstanding fighters and future Champions. I actually though Serra won but its the type of fight that there is no real clear winner. Wish Serra could cut to 155 agian he would be one of BJs toughest challengers at that weight.

Serra could be Penn's first opponent when Penn move up again.

Penn shouldn't move up again. With that said Penn being Penn most assuredly will move up again hahha.

Edgar will be his last fight at 155. Pretty sure of it.

If I was BJ I'd be pulling for a rubber match with Hughes before the man retires.

I agree; he is such a better fighter at 155, and there is really no reason for him to go anywhere else.

As for the Serra fight, I think if he would have been a little more confident in his ground game he could have performed a little better.

I think had this been a 5 Rounder, Serra could have pulled off a win just as Pulver did against Penn. Conditioning had always been Penn's biggest problem until recently and in the first Pulver fight he basically got out hustled in the championship rounds. I could see Serra doing something similar as he was definitely wearing Penn out.
