Good video, short but sweet, and it sums up my feeling exactly, only I've felt this way for much longer than you or anyone else (non troll) on this forum. He isn't perfect, far from it, but with that power, he can always manages to get the job done. and luckily for him, there ain't no Ward or Mayweather's that he'll have to deal with in the future in this division.
Thanks, and yes - I do confess - I never thought Wilder had this dimension in his game. He's been improving, and he has a lot of self-belief. I was thoroughly impressed. I was impressed with Ortiz as well, for that matter - making Wilder's overcoming adversity all the more impressive to me.
Wilder's chin almost let him down, if not for the bell, he would have been knocked out. Joshua will murder him!
I don't know Farmy. I'm not saying Wilder would win, as I have no idea who would win between Wilder and Joshua. But (provided Joshua beats Parker, which I believe he will), I sure hope we got to find out who would win, and the sooner the better!
Great video Rummy! Just watched the fight myself. Wilder showed something today that no one knew he head - heart. His chin was proven as well, although he is still sloppy and rough in his boxing. Stoked for Wilder-Joshua. Also stoked to change my username hahaha, Wilder's certainly answered a few questions tonight.
He would've found a way to knock a Ward type talent the **** out. Mayweather would've been too elusive though.
Good video Rummy, and have to agree with you. Especially on "heart" and "overcoming adversity". I didn't think Wilder had it in him but he has proven me and other doubters wrong.
Uhmmm. I was impressed with Wilder. Like, thoroughly impressed. But there are no heavyweights around who come remotely close to mastering angles like Ward. I guess the closest recently was Fury, and I think he's tremendous, too. But Fury is no Andre Ward, and in a P4P sense, I for one have a difficult time envisioning Ward losing to someone with so many technical flaws.
Im sure AJ will beat Parker, im hopeful Wilder steps in to the ring after for a straight up challenge and i hope the fight gets made. There has been alot of talk and a lot of nonsense about splits but im sure when they sit down and talk serious something can be agreed upon. Im sure they all want it. Ive never really gone overboard on Wilders chin, anybody can hurt anybody in this division. He took some good shots, got wobbled and his legs went to silly street for a while but he held, he recovered and he carried on. That impressed me, his power always impresses me and for all the wild shots he throws the ones that land can be beautifully timed. But i watched him get out jabbed and out boxed by somebody he held alot of physical advantages over. He should not be losing as many rounds as he does. Against somebody tall with fast hands, good shot technique and similar reach he is going to really struggle to win any rounds and really struggle to keep them off of him and its all well and good relying on the power but to lose round after round looking for that power is really asking for trouble.
Me neither. In the name of full disclosure, I picked against Wilder 3x - Liakhovich, Stiverne 1, and Arreola! He's a lot better than I used to believe, and he's proving it time and time again.
Rummy I'm Wilder's biggest fan on here, been riding with him for YEARS. Yes on paper Ward should win, but I gotta ride with my boy to get the KO.
Agreed with basically everything you said, especially the last paragraph. But heart and power can take a guy a long way against more talented opponents. Exciting time for the division.
