    Good video. Enjoyed that.

    Great fighter. ATG.

He is very honest too. Said that he would beat Robinson at MW in a tough fight.

Said that he would have liked Joe in his prime.

The only lie he told was that he would have beaten Calzaghe in a rematch. That version of Roy wasn't beating anyone... in anything.

Good to hear Calzaghe even admitted he don't know if he could beat Roy in his prime.

'Yeah I would have loved the rematch with Calzaghe....a lot of stuff was going on in my life at that time' :nut

'I have tape but I lost it of Calzaghe saying he's not sure if he would be able to beat you in your prime' :nut

'Hopkins low output is why he's still around' :nut

'Thanks for the interview Roy I just want to say I would deepthroat you always the way to your balls' :yep

Slightly off-topic but didn't Joe walk in on his son crying seeing RJJ highlights on youtube? His son said he'll kill you dad. And Joe replied something on the lines of... he's not that great anymore?

"Be honest Roy Jones is a good fighter, and I don't want tough fights." - 1999.

"I think I could give him a tought fight, maybe the hardest he's had, but I know what my CAPABILITIES are, and I'd want to be paid the crown jewels." - 2002.

That was the quote I was thinking of. It shows that he thought he could beat Jones and believed he would have been the most difficult opponent Jones had ever fought but that he wasn't certain of his victory and wanted a massive payday to compensate the risk.

Not in my opinion. I don't think he sounded too confident, and he knew at the time he wasn't going to get huge money, because he wasn't a big name in the U.S. so the fight wouldn't have been big over there.

We also know that he never fought at Roy's weight class at 175, until 2008. So despite what he said, we know he didn't really push for the fight.

So taking into consideration what he said, and what he did/didn't do, I think it's safe to say that he didn't really fancy his chances.

I think in regards to Jones in 2001/2002, Calzaghe would have taken the fight in a heartbeat if he could get it straight away with a guarenteed massive payday but he was not going go out of his way to make it when he was making good money the easy way with the WBO Super Middleweight Title.

From the perspective of a money-fighter, why should he go out of his way to make his name in the US and set up a fight with arguably the greatest fighter active at the time when he could make just as much money sticking to what he was doing? Sure, the Jones superfight payday would be a boon but the fights needed to get into a position to make it would hardly rake in more money than the fights he was taking anyway. Why take the risk when its not going to make him any richer than if doesn't?

So speaking also from purely ability perspective Calzaghe thought he had a chance to beat Jones but he wasn't going to put the effort in to proving it, and he was more than happy for people to think him some glorified and protected domestic level fighter so long as he was making good easy money with the WBO.

He didn't chase the fight, he didn't really want it at the time, but if it happened he was confident that he'd at least give Roy a challenge and that he would have had a chance to win.
