ALmost feel the same way but he deserved it. Talked crap before the fight and never made an attempt to lose the over-weight.
In the video It doesn't show how the whole round Canelo was tagging Baldomir until he finally did him in. Punch after punch was landing.
Actually as Doc said, Baldomir had been hit with some very hard shots right before the definitive hook. I've got to tip my hat to Baldomir however.......what a Warrior......he went down limp and fell hard to the canvas. Essentially he was out, but damn the Warrior in him in desperation tries to get up, but his legs and body just would'nt cooperate. Let me tell you all something........as far as I'm concerned there was nothing sad about what happened to Baldomir tonight. Against a much younger and powerful stud,Baldomir did not go into survival mode, he went out like a Warrior throwing punches. Baldomir=Warrior :happy
Alvarez stole the show tonight. Would like to see him against an Angulo in a couple of fights but he needs to fix some defensive lapses he still has before stepping up against El Perro.
Agreed. :thumbsup The more I see of him as he develops, the more I like. Seems like a real classy kid, too. Saul might be my favorite up and coming fighter.
He is susceptible for the overhand right (on the clip you can see Baldo landing two of them) and I think he's open when he attacks. Baldomir was too slow and was beaten to the punch so he couldn't do anything but a puncher who's willing to walk through some just might lit him up. Angulo is a good example, but then again he's bigger. Another thing he could work on is his footwork to get out of the way. It works sometimes and is improving but a bit more sidestepping wouldn't hurt. But; his left hook counter is a completely superb punch, he's always in the position to counter, is decently quick, has excellent power and above all the right mentality I think. Perhaps a bit too fiery at times but he doesn't shy away. Did you all see the jab Alvarez started using in the third round or so? A GREAT jab - like a powerpunch! I was very surprised to see it, it has some potential. He should use that much more often and not only go for the right hand/left hook. Keep the distance a bit, control things. Alvarez vs Cotto in a few years time could be a barnburner - their styles would mesh very well. And I think Alvarez, with continual development obviously, has the right style to beat him.
