great test for Saul! The kid has got the goods. But at the same time Baldo did well. He made it a fight that a talent like Alverez needs to take him to that next level. Saul is solid all around the board, but he is at time wild, made little mistakes that surprisingly Baldo adjusted in order to take advantage of with the young and less experiecne prospect. Alverez is being brought along at a great pace. One that is progressive and one that will keep Saul from becoming complacent. Baldo could have beaten him had Alverez not be 100% in my opinion. Great win for this kid.
props for taking Baldomir out... But damn He let Baldomir hit him with some hard right hand before taking him out.. I think he will pay for it when he fights a live World class fighter...
i really enjoy watching this kid fighting. and they are handeling him the perfect way,Baldo is an experienced boxer who could have exposed Canelo. But instead the kid took his puches(Baldo never been a great puncher )and landed some good ,clean shots. He shouldnt be pushed against the big names yet,he should stay getting rds against experienced fighters like Randal Bailey, even Judah .I think he can beat Judah at 147.
Indeed Baldomir is an Experienced fighter that teached Canelo many things, Baldo went out like a warrior did you expect him going down while backing up and blocking NOPE! Canelo took down a warrior.
Damn right, he LET Baldomir hit him to get the opening and be in position for the counter left hook, that was similar how Montiel got to Hasegawa's chin. Canelo figured there would be not much pop in a hurt Baldo right and looked to roll with the punch (needs to work on it) before delivering his own (lethal accuracy). Alvarez is very smart and took a calculated risk at the right moment.
He is already good enough to tap dance all over Angulo. Angulo will make him look like Pernell Whitaker.
He's seems so physically strong...like much of his defense consists of letting the other guys punches just bounce off of him...he should be careful of that. Good KO though over a decent veteran. He is moving up. How long 'til Canelo vs Berto?
I would love to see Canelo Berto in a Couple of months... or at least a year more of Canelo growing... Anyways if Berto Losses they Can just pick up Canelo I am sure more people would love Canelo then Berto.
did you even watch either fights of Alvarez, or you just talking ****? Jose Miguel Cotto - 31Wins, 23KOs, 2Losses 2006 UD loss vs Juan Diaz for the WBA world Lightweight 2007 MD win vs Prawet Singwancha for the WBA world Lightweight prior to Alvarez, his only loss was vs BabyBull, and he wasnt stopped. Alvarez dropped him in the 2nd, and TKO'd him in the 9th. And he won most of the rounds.... he fought against a legit titleholder and hard puncher.... SO STFU Ok, i was rather skeptical about the fight too, but felt it was an ol' passing of the torch from an old generation to a new generation fight. Baldomir was plenty old enough to be Alvarez's father (39 vs 20) and seemed he had a problem making weight. But he came in looking pretty solid for his age. I told my friends that i felt Alvarez wasnt going to KO Baldomir like the other undercards were expected, cuz Baldomir WAS an A-class fighter in his age, and that toughness carries over in age. Baldomir held his own surprisingly, and boxed well enough. Alvarez was a bit more patient than i wanted him to, but he's proved that patience pays off. That last round you could see the writing on the wall, and Baldomir's defense ability dropped down, as Alvarez kept on getting heavy headshots. On the closing seconds, he finally got a clean KO.... Most Impressive!
