Exactly. He was hit many times with it but failed to take note. Williams still has a lot to offer boxing but the man needs a decent trainer and to get back to basics. He needs to start using the freakish tools that he has to his advantage. His size and reach is unmatched by any of his rivals, especially at 147, yet he prefers nothing more that to get drawn into 'phone box fights' and therefore nullifying any advantage that he has. If it wasn't for his crazy work rate, none of us would have heard of PW.
Yeah, they really don't even try to hide that they're openly biased towards the guy HBO's invested in anymore. I understand backing the company horse, but it seems like it's gotten worse and worse as time goes on. The commentary during last night's fight was bad, and the commentary during the Alexander-Kotelnik fight was downright putrid. It's not easy to make a boring call on highlight reel KO's, but sure enough the announcers seem to make it happen every time the HBO guy's on the receiving end of it.
Commentators were biased. HBO punch stats were wrong. Martinez landed many more punches than Williams, by far.
Williams is god awful. At least this will silence his idiot fans. I can't remember a fighter with such an enormous length advantage that has absolutely no freaking idea how to use it. He doesnt even try to utilize a jab. He dives right in and tries to throw uppercuts on the inside. If he could watch a Wlad fight without falling asleep he could learn something. Unfortunately, it's impossible to watch a Wlad fight without falling asleep.
That was early in Martinez career, and he lost to a Champion, unlike Manny who was KO against two journey men. :deal
QFT. Williams has been long overrated. The man has been fighting pro for over a decade and has barely made any noise, but people had him ranked P4P for a long time.
This makes you appreciate Floyd and his skills in the boxing ring more! Floyd should give lessons to half these boxers. They have horrible defense and predictable offense.
