Thanks for watching. And fair points. Tough to judge anyone after just 8 fights without having to go past the 4th round. But his power is certainly legit, and he's been a fun watch the 2 times I've seen him fight.

I think Artur gonna be very easy to hit for Kovalev. He has 0 head movement, ok as an agressive fighter you dont need to have head movement, if you use your legs for defence (like Kovalev) or shoulders (like GGG). If they fight, I see Sergey landing combination almost at will. I am fan of both fighters, but Sergey is more skilled.

You make some excellent points and I can't say I disagreed with any of what you said (except I'm not so sure Kovalev could have gotten Hopkins out of there in 2 or 3 - B-Hop knows how to protect himself, as he showed, and in doing so his offense was completely neutralized).

I honestly don't care who'd win between Kovalev and Beterbiev, but I'd love to find out. The amateur back story adds an element of intrigue for me, and it does bring me back to the Forrest-Mosley ****ogy, which I find fascinating.

Yeah Hopkins defense would have most likely taken him a little farther than 2 or 3 that may have been a slight embellishment. But I do think had Kovalev came in and went nuts out like he did in the 12th just charging and pounding the hell out of Hopkins the ref would have stopped it eventually after a few rounds of that, just based on the optics of it. Even if Sergey hadn't landed clean that much, still the sight of a 50 year old being manhandled and beaten from pillar to post wouldn't have looked good and the ref would have freaked out. So it would have been a slight possibility if Sergey fought differently.

I hear you. My main area of disagreement stems from the fact that Hopkins tried opening up more in the 12th round, and that lead to him getting caught more. That, in fact, was the reason Hopkins was biding his time almost the entire fight, waiting for Kovalev to make a mistake that never happened, and waiting for him to tire where fatigue never set in. Hopkins was smart enough to know if he tried anything he would get battered. So he bided his time, and Sergey didn't mind, because he had the distance controlled perfectly. In the 12th, I think Hopkins took a couple of chances that he was unwilling to take earlier, and in my view that's what led to the vicious onslaught in the final round.

Although I concede that maybe your view is the more accurate reflection of reality. I'm just not seeing it that way.

:goodDon't disagree with anything you said. I'm just theorizing on how a ref would look at it, more than anything. An Aggressive Sergey would scare the **** out of most refs, look what happened with Pabon. Which was a great stoppage imo, but some people seem to think otherwise.

Just a quick note, Kovalev claims his "losses" to Beterbiev are BS judging. Apparently lots of Russian fighters feel that the AM system there is pretty corrupt. Personally I have no idea , but I'd love to see a writeup/RBR on how the fights went by a skilled scorer.

Also, nice videos - I dont always comment but I do watch them.

Agreed, an aggressive Sergey would be scary, but the beauty of his efforts against Hopkins is that he remained disciplined and wasn't overly aggressive. Hopkins knew he had no openings so never took many risks, biding his time. But had Sergey been more aggressive, yes, there is the chance that he could have blasted the old man out of there. But I also think he would have made himself more susceptible to being countered and playing into the role Hopkins wanted. To me, Kovalev was far more disciplined against Hopkins than he was against Pascal.

On that note, I'm itching to discover more details from their amateur encounters as well.

Finally, people see this. I've been beating the drums for how intriguing this match-up is since last year. It's Krusher meets Destroyer.

Both are THE most formidable LHW's in the division, period. However, Beterbiev is still a bit green as a Pro, while Kovalev has come into his own, having over twice as many fights.

If the fight happens any time soon, then I believe Kovalev takes it. Despite Sergey's power, I think that he'd be content to box and avoid trading with Beterbiev, using his superior footwork to great effect. But if the fight happens after Beterbiev has had time to become a fully seasoned Pro (which he believes doesn't even matter due to his amateur career), then I'm not sure what the outcome would be. I don't think we've seen Beterbiev's full array of skills yet.

These two do know each other from a previous encounter as amateurs. It's going to be one hell of a fight when they finally step into the same ring again.
