Floyd said that he made the fight happen when he wanted to. He said that he moved when he wanted to move and that he decided the time was right. He flat out said that he waited until the time was right. And then you've had Floyd saying that Ward shouldn't fight Kovalev, Canelo shouldn't fight Golovkin, and how Davis shouldn't fight Lomachenko. In a very recent interview, Davis said that Floyd was telling him to look long term and avoid certain fights for a longer career. Davis isn't bright or articulate enough to make this up. LOL! It doesn't get any simpler. Mayweather > Roach
The reality is the true version of Mayweather vs. Pacquiao never really happened. What we got was an imitation version. And it wasn't that great of a fight. I think you're spot on with the waiting game syndrome plaguing boxing. We may never see another trilogy in boxing.
I dont even lump them together. As far as I'm concerned Mayweather beat a 36 year old blown up Featherweight that had him ducking questions for years. Pacquiao built his name on Cotto, Morales, JMM and MAB. I dont really see how Floyd factors into that. Floyd had his own career filled with lower quality opposition and less entertaining fights.
When you think of Pacquiao the Cotto fight comes to mind for example. A former Flyweight Champion knocking out a strong Welterweight Champion in an entertaining fight. We have never seen something like that before. Mayweather is his own separate fighter.
Watch Showtime 9.30 central tonight & you;ll see FLOYD CANNOT FIGHT!!! Maidana roughed him up & beat him up Afterwards Floyd said. It wasn't fair ROFLMAO[/QUOTE]
Was a very comfortable decision win for Floyd in a low action affair. Went how about 1/3 of folks predicted it would for the whole duration of the 5+ years it took to make the fight. Many people say Pac would have had a better chance in 2010. That may be true. But it's true 2010 Floyd was a whole lot better than the one that fought a half decade later, as well. I feel that is understated. Risk/Reward is a very real thing and Floyd/Pacquiao showed, along with many examples which they followed, milking it for as long as possible is the best financial option. It's not too often we don't see milking. God bless Roman Gonzalez and Srisaket Rungvisai, I say. It did make these forums a much, much more tolerable place. A lot of those fans that disappeared into the darkness slowly reemerged as vocal fans of predictable other fighters shortly after. But the endless whining and trivial debating stopped. One side was right and the other was wrong. "End of," despite it being anything other than that.
