My personal opinion on this fight was that Vitali was very unlucky to have suffered such a serious cut in an important match that he was doing well in; however, Lewis deserves huge credit for the way he was getting back into the fight after taking a lot of damage in the first few rounds.

Who knows what would've happened if Vitali had fought on? Or hadn't been cut so badly?

Sorry that post is reality , nothing revised whatsoever . Would it also be revisioning history if i said Lewis wanted Roy Jones AFTER he fought Vitali ? Because that actually is fact as well.

George Foreman: "Vitali was winning the fight. Lewis got lucky. There has to be a rematch!"

Jim Lampley: "A lucky escape for Lewis who was clearly losing the fight"

Even Emanuel Steward was upset and pissed off at Lewis for blatantly ducking a Vitali rematch.

Lewis is scared to death of Vitali of sorts , i think his persuit of RJJ and Tyson show this ,when Vitali was the only option then ,he retired ,go ahead defend that one ? RJJ? lol

Lewis said he was "at the peak of my powers" when the fight with Vitali.

Lewis was coming off the KO win over Tyson. In the Lewis-Tyson post fight interview Lewis stated "I'm like fine wine, I get better with age"

In an interview right before the Vitali fight, Lewis said "I'm at the peak of my powers, I will keep fighting for many more years"

"Lewis doesn't want that work ,that boy gonna come back stronger,Lewis dont want to lose "L.Holmes , who doesn't even like the Klitchkos.

" Klitchkos size gave me problems ,he was the bigger man and his awkward style made it a very difficult fight for me "L. Lewis

    Nice work as always.

To answer your questions; Klitschko would have been blinded in his left eye had the fight been allowed to continue and Lewis would have KO'ed Vitali in the rematch...

What you guys need to remember is Lennox was due to fight Kirk Johnson in a warm up match. We all knew Kirks heart had been taken when he was blatantly robbed by Joe Cortez & Jonn Ruiz for the WBA title. He wasn't training for this fight & was overweight so Lennox was doing the same. He was nowhere near top shape. When Kirk pulled out the card looked done for till Lennox agreed to take on his #1 contender at 10 days notice. Name me one other Heavyweight Champ to ever have the stones to do that??? Lennox underestimated Vitali & almost paid for it but I believe he would have won the fight anyway
The Kirk that fought Vitali was NOT the Kirk Johnson we knew he was overweight & undertrained purely there for the check

Couple of little anecdotes many don't know about and weren't spoken about in the video:

    - Lennox Lewis was on the phone with Corrie Sanders prior to the Wladimir fight and told him to blitz him early. "Test him early, he might fall apart". Lewis said this in an interview. They were good friends at the time.
    - Before the Lewis vs. Johnson fight was made, the WBC made it clear they wouldn't sanction this fight because Vitali was the mandatory challenger. So Lewis decided to not get the bout sanctioned by the WBC, but only have the lesser IBO belt on the line. Then Johnson got injured so the WBC belt came into play again with Vitali.
    - Lewis (and his partner Ogun) were actually managers and promoters for Corrie Sanders in the Vitali fight. Many people don't know about this. Lewis was adamant Corrie would destroy Vitali and silence the voices calling for a return of Lewis vs. Vitali.
    - Lewis made Vitali take numerous tests and doctors exams in the aftermath of the fight while they were negotiating a rematch. Vitali said he had to go to an LA clinic of Lewis' choosing to get a certificate that his eye healed correctly and is not in danger of blinding should he get in the ring again. So Lewis had an interest in fighting Vitali again, but then lost it somewhere.
