It is almost clear by this thread, that people roots for their own color and preference. Half of the post above is not objective but fan boys sling match

Maybe we need to redefine the definition of spaghetti.
Or determine it is cooked or uncooked.

Absolutely. Lewis would have been on his back in the 7th. No doubt. See the way he plopped down on his stool after the 6th?! He was done. He blew his wad try to get Vitali out of there.

Lewis is another fraud who had to cheat and get helped out from the boxing establishment to escape against a superior fighter.

Anything is possible. But it's too bad we didn't get to see the rematch.

You are mostly on the fence on this one. Hypothetically however, if the match wasn't stop on the 6, who do you put your money on to prevail?

With the same circumstances, Lennox. That eye would have only gotten worst by the rounds and Lennox was targeting the eye, so even if the fight went on a few more rounds and Vitali couldn't knock him out, I think it would have been stopped eventually. His eyebrow was literally falling off.

I know why Lennox retired when he did & I think he made the right choice. He'd already beaten Vitali when barely in fighting shape, Wlad was hiding, Ike was incarcerated. there was no one left to make him stay.
You say he should have given Vitali a rematch?? Nut just look what happened to guys that rematched Lennox ?? Ask Hasim Rachman LOL. Lennox did Vitali a favor

I disagree, Lennox never meet a big guy except for grant who has terrible chin. I guess Lennox lost his hunger after the Tyson fight. My money would be on The Ukraine

    I have.

It was a great fight, but Lewis looked more hurt throughout the fight and was out boxed. Fair play to Lewis for making it a fight.

One of my all time fav fights, great memories of that fight,I can only presume it was on free view since I never bothered paying to watch.
Vitali was so hungry for the win that night and reached a standard way above what we knew about him,Lennox in bad shape though showed that he's a tough son of **** and once he got that beautiful jab going I had a feeling he'd turn it round,I believe the cuts were from punches as well,it was happen a good job it was waived off as those cuts were awful,I seem to remember his team trying to put paper in em or something?

I dont know if he would or not ,i think either way Vitali wins even if it goes the distance . The thing about the cut/gash was blood was not effecting Vitalis vision and he wasnt necessarily being more active but Lewis punch count was dropping . Lewis purposely came in a little heavier to match Vitalis size where he would be the stronger and control the fight ,the punches he got hit with particularly the right hand in the second round took alot out of Lewis as did trying to push Vitali around ,he simply wasnt used to fighting a durable SHW and being out jabbed .

If Lewis wasnt going to win then outside the fashion he did i doubt he wins a rematch and so does he ,since he didn't want one . He saw a improved hungry Vitali ,and he knew would have proper preperation next time and would have to deal with not just a physically stronger guy ,an unpredictable fighter with the highest ring IQ who he had doubts of being able to knock out which i think ultimately played in his decision to retire when he was forced to take the rematch

The one thing when arguing the rematch is that both had ability to get a win over eachother, if they fought 5 times im sure Lewis wins at least once , and he got his win that night . Just remember everyone ,Lewis wanted to fight Roy Jones a guy who isnt even a cruiserweight and about 70 pounds lighter with no HW chin . That tells you who would have the mental edge and had the mental edge after the first fight . I do believe Vitali could have k.od Lewis if he went full throttle from rnd 1 to 3 , it would have changed the overall way Lewis was fighting ,he let him off the hook in rnd 2 .

Agreed 100%. The eye wasn't going to last the distance.

However, if there was no cut, I would have picked Vitali who did have a lead.

It's all purely hypothetical though, of course :)

And yet one of Lewis victims is being talked about this day as a HW contender and at one point a possible Wlad opponent.

Amazing accomplishment by Lewis to nip that serious challenge in the bud and get Briggs whilst he was still a baby.
