Lennox was 100%. He'd been in a 8/10 week camp for Johnson. You're talking like he'd had 10 days notice for the fight.

This myth that Lewis was 30% is total bs. After his last fight against Tyson, Lewis along with everyone else said he was like a fine wine, getting better with age. He fights Vitali in a good tough fight suddenly he's old, undertrained and past it.

Reality is Vitali was the first tough, live fighter Lewis had fought since Evander.

Lewis pretty clearly won the sixth, and had fought his way to a point where it was, at worst, evenly contested following a rocky start in the first couple of rounds. Vitali was bleeding all over the place, wasn't landing with the same force that he previously had during the early stages of the bout and appeared to be increasingly affected by the uppercuts that Lewis was landing in close.

I mean, anything can happen, but the dynamic of the fight appeared to be favoring the champ as the bout entered the second half.

C'mon man McCalls eyes were closed when that shot hit Lennox It was lucky. The return fights proved his superiority didn't they ?? Both losses were due to Lennox underestimating opponents but Kudo to both yjey took advantage. Name me one other Champion that took on his #1 contender for his title on 10 days notice?? Now that's a Champ with Stones. haven't seen any other champion do it

I don't think he necessarily was taking Johnson as seriously as previous opponents that he had faced, though, given the fact that he came in at a career high 256. He was prepped...but I don't think came into the fight as sharp as had been the case in earlier fights. There certainly appeared to be a sense of arrogance that Lewis conveyed in the lead up to the fight, and it nearly cost him.

Lennox beats Vitali 10-10 times. He was just stronger than Vitali and he could fight inside. Lennox and Vitali weren't 100 %, but gave a 100% effort. Props to both guys. Disregard the fanatics who try to re create and change boxing history. Lennox won, cuts count, and that's it.

A prime Vitali caught a soft, old, totally unmotivated Lewis at the very end of his career and still got a hole punched in his face. Prime for prime Lewis would absolutely destroy him.

    Rahman yes, McCall NO.

McCall was fresh out of rehab FFS and had a breakdown in the ring and even then Lewis was hanging back tentatively.

Great fight. I wish they had an immediate rematch. I also wish Vitali didn't endure such a terrible cut in that fight; the pendulum was swinging in his direction and it would've been incredible to see them continue on in that match. It was easily the best HW fight of the last 15 years.

Vitali said he'd come back for Lewis during his 4 year injury lay off. I believe $50m was on the table, the phone never rang despite the WBC not buying tko6 and ordering the rematch that Lewis accepted and walked away from. Lewis walked away from boxing with unfinished business. I rate that worse than Fury's BS this year. Fury can at least claim he won a UD and not via a cut opened with the glove illegally while behind on all cards.
