And did you see that take down? Man, Couture went so damn low he REALLY didn't want to take any chances with Toney's punching! LMAO Toney might as well tried to punch his own feet... I think Couture's head hit the canvas one feet in front of his own feet, and then he slide it on the ground to Toney's feet for the takedown... LOL

And boy did Toney seem to go down fast and easily? I think it was a good takedown, grabbing the feet and pulling it, but damn, Toney looked bad in getting taken down so easily... I have never trained for MMA, but I'm fairly sure I could have resisted that takedown attempt... But then again, I'm not a fat 42 year old passed his prime boxer...

Its called respect. Randy respects James' punching skills, so he avoided his strengths. James on the other hand is an ignorant egomaniac and didn't respect Randyand his skills, so he choose to NOT train good enough to even try to attempt to stop the takedown. I am not suprised by Toneys typical arrogance.

I totally beleived JT when he said he was going to be in top shape for this fight. And he NEEDED to be to be competitive.

Also, how was Toney not readied to fire a hook @ 44 seconds into the clip. I mean he couldn't have known the time the takedown would be attempted, but he had to have known it would be early.
I'll say this about the boxing v MMA battle. I am by no means a top fighter, never was. But I fought over 90 amatuer fights, and knew how to counter a lunge. When I recently sparred an MMA amatuer I countered his takedown with an uppercut(granted the boy went for my waste, not my knees) and caught him on the ear flush. He did not try another takedown, and I went the whole 15 minutes on my feet.
JT is a champion. I am a tomato can. How the hell did he not figure out what to do in that instance.
Also, everyone knew his ONLY chance at victory was to counter the td's or to jab and shoot straights. Why did he not attack first, and put RC on the defensive.

I was disappointed at the weighin, but still optimistic about his CPing style. But when I saw RC successfully take him down without a counter even being attempted I knew it was over, EARLY!

JT is just to lazy to cross over into MMA. And also too lazy to fight again for a boxing title.

I totally know where you are coming from and agree, Toney just had ZERO mobility. As a boxer you would have thought he would maybe start on the back foot, show some angles, try to move and counter, he displayed no boxing skills. We know he never even thew a punch but he didn't even attempt to control distance. That was a poor showing indeed. He gift wrapped himself for a take down the way he got in to shooting range.

The only thing I dont understand from Toney is why he didnt start by attacking. I know he is a countrpuncher but the worst thing to do was to allow Randy Couture to strike first with a takedown.

Watching the video again I can see that Randy feinted and shot. Toney could not change levels. I called that before the fight.

Randy fought well below his ability because he thought so little of Toney. He shot from far out and he began to lock a sub while out of optimum position.
