"Aww, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent. 14% of all people know that." ~ Homer Simpson, circa 1994.
Interesting list. I enjoyed the video Rummy thanks for always putting together quality work on this site.
Good video. I was surprised Joe Louis and Ali ended up having equal amount of points, expected Louis to be #1. Wlad deservedly above Holmes in my opinion.
That's good Rummy. Looks like you put a lot of work into it. The way you eliminate the bias for modern fighters with more belts is with fractions. If there are two major belts like in '78 then each belt is worth .5 points per defense. If the champ unifies, it's worth 1 again. In '83 there are three belts each worth .33 points per defense. A champ with 2 belts gets .66 per defense. Down to today when there are four belts, each worth .25 points and nobody has them all. They each get partial credit, and a unified champion receives more credit than someone holding a single belt.
Coxscorner is great. Have you ever seen this chart of the the hardest hitting heavyweights? http://www.heavyweightblog.com/1267/ko-statistics-of-ko-kings-tyson-klitschko-shavers Some guy made a formula kind of like what Rummy was doing to analyze fighters from different eras against each other. He adjusted for weight of opponents as well as if they were low ranked bums to see who had the most knockout power. Figure it's worth a mention when ranking fighters of different eras.
That site is from a Klitschko fanboy "Jean-Marc Mormeck would probably be Muhammad Ali's greatest win"
Good video Rummy. Spinks and Patterson stick out to me as being outliers but can't complain about your formula really.
Good video. Ultimately, not a horrible list. We've all seen much worse on this forum! I do love how by any metric, any respectable or consistent opinion, Ali and Louis are head and shoulders 1 and 2.
