More Dutch Kickboxers have done pro boxing fights. Nieky Holzken is 6-0 and Rico Verhoeven has done a pro boxing fight last year.
I'm glad Spong has turned to boxing, but I doubt if he'll ever become world class.
He's good, he's only 29 and has a lot of experience in big fights, but kickboxers are used to fight 4 rounds. If he dedicates to boxing for 100% he can become a main player, but if he wants the best of 2 worlds and still does kickboxing as well (Like Nieky Holzken) he'll never get a title.

This makes no sense to me. He has 83 kickboxing fights under his belt. He should be fighting harder competition, even if this is a somewhat different sport. I get that he might be transitioning over to boxing after he broke his leg bad, but surely he could have gotten into the ring with some capable journeymen, gatekeepers, or contenders. I'm not saying throw him to the lions, because he obviously needs an adjustment period, but maybe fast track him like the Olympians who turn pro.

Also, he's roided to the gills and could probably box at cruiserweight if he laid off the stuff. But whatever, it's not like heavyweight is that great a division these days or testing is that strenuous. He might pull it off.

You want to talk crazy weight gain over the course of a career? Guillermo Jones started at welterweight. Now he's a cruiser. The dude is 6'3"! How did he ever get down to 147?

He looks pretty good I must admit.... We'll only know what his ceiling is as he steps up in competition though. Won't be the first guy from K-1 to switch over to boxing full time and make a name for himself.

Just because he's a HW and in shape doesn't automatically mean he's a drug cheat, hate when people throw around these steroid accusations with no basis whatsoever
