Yes kicks are more powerful than punches in general. Different body shapes have different bio-mechanics so some guys kick much harder than they punch, others not so much. I would imagine that type of kick is the 'overhand right' of kicks, a lot of momentum and full extension. It also looks like it caught Vitali by surprise, which as we all know makes a big difference. He looked a lot skinnier back then and had a lot less stability. I'd be surprised if he literally COULDN'T get up for 7 min cause his head popped up straight away so he wasn't out cold. Maybe his coaches were telling him to stay down rather than stand up and be unsteady. Don't get me wrong he was definitely shook, Amir Khan had the same thing against Prescott, his head came up but nothing else would respond.

Well it's very simple, your legs are stronger than your arms. Let's say you can pick up 35lbs with one arm, doing curls, you could most likely do double that+ with one leg.

Strong legs are a big part of generating power punches, swinging a bat hard, pitching 95 miles per hour, dunking, having a good jump shot, etc.

I think Ukrainians have nothing to do with KGB.

Any way he has great character to come back from that heavy ko the way he has.

Weird how they both went onto be Boxers with wildly different careers.

Vitali went on to completely dominate the heavyweight division.

Pele Reid got stopped inside a round by John McDermott haha.

Had never seen it before. Thanks for sharing. I remember my cousin KO'd someone in a very similar fashion.

He actually later won championships in kickboxing prior to his transition into boxing, I believe.

Reid is the one who should have stuck with the sport he was good at.
