[Video] Walcott compares Rocky and Louis as punchers

His power for his size was super human.

 

Do you think the fact that Walcott was 33 and 34 for the Louis fights and nearly 38 and was 39 for the Marciano one's could have been a factor? Or do you think your punch resistance stays the same whatever your age or closeness to your prime?

 

Your ability to feel who hits harder certainly doesn't change between the age of 33-38.

 

Willis Applegate and Ted Lowry must have had chins of steel when they fought Rocky.

Joe Louis didn't agree with you."I was younger then ,you can take more when you are younger."

 

You might be able to take more but your ability to judge who hits harder stays the same, everybody raises their game when in fear of being killed.

 

During the post fight interview Archie Moore said that Rocky had a long way to go and many things to learn.

 

Or goes down and decides to stay there, ala Walcott against Rocky 2 , imo. Punches that you and I may have shrugged off when younger register more as you age I think this is undeniable .I guess you are significantly younger than me,and I can tell you my powers of recuperation are nothing compared to when I was younger.Look at boxers that were known for being durable Cobb,Tua,eventually all those shots take there toll and you find yourself going down from punches you may have weathered when younger.
On a side note.
I'm not suggesting that Marciano didn't land a God awful wallop on Jersey Joe in 1953,or even that he would have survived it had he been several years younger, but he might not have been in a position to have to take it if he had been younger and fresher.

 

Plenty of fighters would have decided to stay down after getting dropped heavily by that shot, his legs stiffened up as he fell.

 

It sucks getting old. Don't anyone tell you any different.

 

I think the thought of going another 12 rounds with Rocky just got to him. Marciano had actually practised the uppercut in training as a way of overcoming Walcott's feinting and moving away."Willie Wilson,one of my sparring partners had Walcott's moves down very good.
He'd feint me and pullaway,or after I hit hima good punch ,he'd pull down and try to tie me up.The big problem was to figure out what I was going to hit him with for a second punch""We decided to try right hand uppercuts aftera left hook,and I practised it a lot on the heavy bag and then against Wilson.
As it happened the fight went less than a round,but the 3D movies showed why very well.I hit him with a hook ,but as he ducked to take it high on the head,he moved right into the power of the uppercut because with an uppercut the power is right after you start it."

Wiater was 16-1-1 Louis had 6 fights under his belt he had been a pro for under 3 months!.

Wiater was only stopped once, in his last fight.
Brown had 54 fights experience, Louis had been a pro for 8 months.Louis kod Brown in4 rds in the rematch.
Applegate, going into the Marciano fight had lost his last 5 fights and won just one of his last12! He traded with Rocky and Marciano was unable to floor him.Applegate had 2 more fights and retired.
Lowry a lightheavyweight twice went the distance with Marciano without being floored, in fact many thought he was robbed in their first fight Marciano was having his 21st and 30th fights. later he said "my best punches didn't seem to affect him I think he would have gone the distance no matter how many times we fought". Lowry had lost his last 3 and would lose his next 5.
Spot the difference?

 

Maybe not all, but most fighters lose some punch resistant s as they age. Would Leonard have been stopped in his prime by camacho? Or Duran by joppy, Tyson by Danny Williams?.
