If he says Marciano hit him harder than Louis ,yes I believe him.
Just as I believe Archie Moore when he said Yvon Durelle and Curtess Sheppard hit him harder than Marciano.

I can understand your point . I see that one differently .. putting that aside there is no doubt Walcott fought a past his prime Louis who would only manage to put one fighter on the deck ( and not for a ten count, just a knockdown ) over his next and final ten fights while he fought an absolute prime Marciano .. while the punch may be the last thing to go there is little doubt it fades over time with the ability to land it .. All I can say is we see Louis destroying far bigger men than anything we saw w Rocky. Regardless both were terrific hitters.

Everybody fails to blast out somebody.

Marciano's results have to be explained by something.

Nope Marciano hit Walcott harder than Louis did.
Durelle and Sheppard hit Moore harder than Marciano did. That doesn't mean they were harder punchers.

They can be explained by the fact that owing to his stature he was committed to going forward and pressuring in every fight he had .To be able to do that he had to train like a monk for 3 months. No one was ever fitter or trained harder. This fitness enabled him to apply constant pressure from the first bell to the last,it also allowed him to throw power shots round after round without let up.Coupled to this was fantastic self belief and determination, the will to win,and being prepared to take the pain and punishment to inflict his own and to gradually grind down his opposition. That is what made him a great fighter.Of course It helped that his 4 most formidable opponents were past their primes too.

Or as I chose to phrase it, Walcott got hit harder by Marciano than Louis.

And there very well might be other reasons for that than a prime Marciano hitting harder than a prime Louis... Legs that were 4 years fresher and positioned him better against Louis' punches or a Louis on the decline whose accuracy and right hand power were fading.

He said Marciano hit him harder ,that's fine with me.Jack Sharkey said Dempsey hit him harder than Louis did, I accept that too. I'd hazard a guess Ezzard Charles would say Marciano hit him harder than Louis did too,and I can believe it. It doesn't mean he was a harder puncher though. The Joe Louis that drove Braddock's teeth through his gumshield was not the Joe Louis that fought Walcott.Just as the Walcott that fought Louis was not the Walcott that fought Marciano and the Louis that fought Charles was not the Louis who knocked out Uzcudun's gold bridge. I'm glad you accept Walcott's word,I assume this means you also accept Buster Douglas's word about his physical condition when he fought Tyson! Glad we cleared that misunderstanding up!

The difference is Walcott was not Braddock. Louis was knocking everybody out or stopping his opponents prior to facing Walcott. Don't tell me....... Louis had lost all his power by the time he faced Walcott.......

I have video evidence of Walcott stating Marciano hit harder than Louis, do you have the same for the Douglas debate? No? That's a shame.
