Louis himself said he couldn't pull the trigger anymore he said his last fight in which he felt like himself was against
Tami Mauriello that was 2 years before his ko of Walcott and 4 years before he fought Charles.
Louis scored 3 stoppages in his last 10 fights,do you think he was hitting with same reflexes and power as he had in the late 30's and early 40's? Because he didn't! I have an interview in which Douglas states he was in top shape for Tyson you won't accept it because you will find any excuse to put Tyson down because you are the registered leader of the," I HATE TYSON CLUB". Waste of time trying to have an objective discussion with you on this subject.

Shock horror, fighter gives off excuses for his recent losses and bad performances.......

Louis was in his early 30's when he fought Walcott, if you want to believe he'd lost his power at that age then knock yourself out.

You have me mixed up pal, I don't hate Tyson at all.

Hi Wass - Louis had been fighting pro for quite some time. He also had the long layoff (WWII) where he basically fought exhibitions. Physically, Louis did not look like the same fighter as he had been circa 1940. Also, I think that Louis peaked in the late 1930s-early 1940s.

That doesn't mean he'd lost his punch now does it?

Louis knocked Walcott out in the 11th round, an impressive display of punching power.

I think what Walcott said is evidently true and shouldn't really give rise to all this disagreement. Marciano tended to put everything into single shots, whereas Louis set them up as a combination puncher.

Should we disregard what Walcott said? The proof is in the pudding, Louis was on a good knockout run before he met Walcott.

Issue was not that Louis had no power or lost power in his right hand......he could not pull the trigger as quickly in his later years.

His KO of Walcott was spectacular hitting the challenger full force with his right hand. Walcott took many shots from Louis over 26 some rounds. Walcott also felt Marcianos power over the 13 round they fought where he was koed both times. Jersey Joe would be the best person to rate relative punching power.

If it was the same Walcott in each fight I would agree.
