I knew the Poles wouldn't get their **** together for the 2012 Euro (Ukrainians even more so...).

Why would they book a fight on a stadium that isn't even close to being finished?

Looks like the majority of the work has to be done on the interior lobbies as the stadium itself appears to be almost finished. Like earlier poster commented, construction work tends to be uneven with most of the energy being put at the very end, as everyone comes together to finish by deadline.

I was also amazed how quickly they´ve finished an indoor city pool by my house, within a couple of days, which looked nowhere near completed 3 days before it opened. But they did.

Would you care to wait for Euro 2012 (or even September 10th) to come to that conclusion?

As for the Euro, if you follow the reports, the Poles are way ahead of Ukraine in stadium and infrastructure completion. Platini had to make several trips to Ukraine and issue warnings about them losing the hosting privileges for them to get moving quicker. And this does not mean that Poland was problem free with the deadlines and projects. What you´ll find is, when it comes to huge events like these, no country has been without problems but they almost always pull through....except for India´s recent commonwealth games which many countries blackballed due to poor, unfinished venues and accommodations. But even they pulled through and improved substantially in the last few days.

Maybe you guys will get the stadiums done, but I know for a fact that there is a shitload of problems with roads, highways.

And Ukraine...:barf Why the hell would anyone let them co- organize such an event? It should be Poland alone, or Poland with the Czech Republic or something.

Worry about your rebuilding "London" neighborhoods.

Poland outsourced a lot of its highway projects to a Chinese company (of course, the least expensive bidder) and they had labor disruptions due to nonpayments by their company. Also, many people don´t want highways running across their little towns. Others hate traffic jams and disruptions that construction projects create putting political pressure to stop them. There are also ecologists protesting the destruction of forest etc etc. It´s always a complex issue when it comes to such huge projects and people just assume it has to do with that country´s native workmanship.

At first I thought it was nice that they got Ukraine involved but now I'm not so sure. Poland is in the EU and things are moving quickly. Not only this stadium, but other stadiums, high rise buildings, and highways throughout the entire country.

Selecting Ukraine was a bit risky given their slightly volatile situation but can have substantial political and economical pay offs and FIFA will come off appearing to be gutsy and cutting edge. Chechs are quite smaller than Ukraine and are already showcased a lot by the tourism industry, something that Ukraine could use too.

All in all, I don´t like the idea of co-hosting because it tends to send the message that neither country could host by itself. But get used to it, co-hosting will be done more and more, especially if this one appears to be successful.
