I thought Zbik just about won it as he was completely outboxing Chavez for the first few rounds and out landed him for most of the fight. Chavez came back strong and hurt Zbik more than Zbik hurt Chavez during the course of the fight but I think the best Chavez deserved was a draw. The result was actually what most people on ESB expected, Zbik to outbox Chavez, get hurt a few times by Chavez and then lose controversially on points. Made me happy as I bet on Chavez to win as we all generally knew that unless he got knocked down a couple of times or knocked out there was no way he wasn't going to win on points. The same way Zbik would never have lost this fight in Germany without Chavez knocking him out. That's boxing for you unfortunately.

It was one of those typical home decisions. Jr would not have won this fight outside of USA or Mexico. 114:114 was reasonable. Unfortunately, that's how boxing works. Lots of politics in it. They are cashing on Jr but also making him a bad favor. He is not ready.

In a fight that was this close, I feel you should just think if the fight were to keep going until somebody got knocked out who would win? I'm pretty sure a couple more rounds of great body work and power shots to the head would have stopped Zbik for good. Zbik is a great boxer and has a solid chin, but lacks power. You can't expect someone who doesn't have much power to achieve more than gatekeeper or journeyman status. He reminds me of Malinaggi. Both have great chins, are fast, but have no power. Chavez Jr. lacks technical skill, but has power and a chin, now that combination works and will get him places. A close fight though and could have been a draw, but a win for either one is not a robbery. It all comes down to what the judges prefer and what they consider effective punches. I for one prefer the hard hitting power shots that cause damage, over the fast flurry of punches that manage to land but really have minimal effects.

Maybe he watched the fight afterwards and saw that he deserved to keep his belt. The thing is that Zbik's promoter is broke and he was doomed. He was brought to lose. It was obvious. But as I said they make Chavez Jr a bad favor. He is nothing special.

this may sound funny but i think chavez won the fight point wise

but i really feel zbik deservred it

its funny but i think zbik made chavez look terrible at times

hit him with the same punch 3 times in a row a boxing no no

chavez had no answer ffor zbik landing clean and at will

if he had any power chavez would have been ****ed hell chavez eye looked bad at the end

but chavez would get outboxed thru the first 2 minutes getting swarmed and flurried but somehow just bang away and steal many rounds in the last minute with power

Chavez was 15lbs heavier off course he looked bigger and stronger but hes featherfisted as well. He landed some real good single punches Zbik never saw. I believe it was in round 7. Zbik just placed his foot and started to jab. he wasnt even stunned let alone hurt. Zbik has no stamina he never had in none of his fights. that had little to do with Chavez bodywork. Chavez bodywork was far away from greatly effective. Zbik was gassed in the second half of the fight and rather stood in front of Chavez after he landed 2,3,4 punches than just using his legs, stepping out. yet he blocked most of Chavez shots but it gave the impression that Chavez was optically dominating because he was the far bigger guy. A lot of ppl just score rounds based on those optical impressions rather than paying much attention to the rules. Zbik outboxed Chavez and he won the fight and those punchstats don´t tell the story of a fight but it´s reflecting a fight well at times.
