I understand, but you know how it is. The girl may be talented, but is there really a future in womens boxing?
It is not my job to crush dreams. Carla has one goal and that is to become the best boxer she can be. It is my job to help her.
Actually looks pretty damn good in her form for being a girl with only 6 months training? Hell ya man :good Good looking too
She seems like the sharpest at the gym which may work for or against her in the long run- if she has lazy sparring partners, she will be stunted with how far/fast she can grow. Pretty strong start though- decent foot work, she lets her hands go, i'd like to see more delibertate and slower shadow boxing to be able to comment on her form with various punches
There are three gyms in our town, there are three others within 45 minutes of our gym. They all have top level female boxers. I have another 12 year old southpaw female named Deserae who is even more skilled than Carla but she is only 115 pounds and Carla is 18 and 126 pds. I have Nuvia who is 16 and a multible national champion. The three spar often. Also, unlike many gyms, we have no problem with our females sparing our males. In fact, we insist on it. The day I shot the video, we had several first time kids and the boxercise class in the gym.
1-2...so basically she's no good. in her shadow boxing her legs are spread too far apart meaning she can't generate maximum power.
No, it means she is an amateur boxer. Brandon Rios had 300 amateur bouts and he lost around 100 of them. Carla's first bout was on Denver and she had only been training for 8 weeks, her second bout was at a show at our gym and she totally dominated her opponent. Her third bout was a national championship bout. She won Most Outstanding Female Boxer even though she lost the bout.
Jose Louis Gonzalez had over 500 amateur bouts. He won a dozen national titles and was a good professional after he left our gym but he lost something like the first 20 or 30 bouts as an amateur.
Respect the work you are doing Flatlander. I dont agree with you on everything especially with Women boxing. btw is that gym yours.. or are you just training boxers there?:huh
