I scored the first fight 6-4 for Rodriguez. Had it even after eight, but Rodriguez showed his class in the last two (also seemed to want it a little more) and swept the last two rounds. I'll watch and score IV this week.
I was a BIG fan of Luis Rodriguez and I thought he won both bouts. Years later I became good friends with Emile and after a while I told him that I always rooted for Rodriguez when they fought. He gave me a sad face but then I said, But now I watch them again and I always root for you Emile. He just laughed. I was also very good friends with Howie Albert, Emile's manager, and he brought up those fights one day and said Emile beat Luis 3 out of 4 times. I then said, Howie anyone of those bouts could have gone the other way, in fact I thought Luis won most if not all the fights with Emile. Howie didn't say anything, he just shook his head. Deep down, I think he knew too.
I'm a big fan of both men. Whats not to like about either guy really? Both are great boxers. In the first fight I felt LMR edged it, but it could have went either way, and the fights got progressively wider. The third fight was the best of the bunch IMO, with great skill on display and superb momentum swinging back and forth, however I felt LMR edged it about 10-5. Te fourth I felt was the worst of the bunch and pretty sloppy, I still felt LMR edged it but it was pretty close.
