I was really hoping to they would have the fight in England, it would have been the perfect reason to take a trip there. Oh well, I guess I'll go to Vegas, would have preferred England though
This is why boxing is dying, this could have been the Rumble in the Jungle of the 00's, it could have been an absolute spectacle, something to shut those UFC boys up, instead it will be held in a tiny little room with a bunch of rich folk who make no atmosphere whatsoever.
sorry for coming off like that but putting more asses in seats will not automatically generate more money. granted vegas' venue is smaller but tickets for being in the arena will priced much higher not to mention closed circut venues where they charge minimum $100-200. then of course you got casinos & gambling. you simply said "americans dont support boxing like euros b/c of low gate numbers..."
"americans dont support boxing like euros b/c of low gate numbers..." I was also thinking of how Hatton did more PPV. in England than Mayweather did in the USA given the disparity in population size. Surely it makes sense to use bigger stadiums if there is a high demand of people to see the fight live.

why, b/c i know how much tickets cost to watch the fight live at the arena and at closed circut just in case the arena is sold out... or is the fact that i post about traveling to vegas 3 times a year to watch fights and betting money on the different odds... great assumption. :good
not you yourself fool, 'you' as in 'Americans', when was the last time a US fight held more than even 30k? The fact that Hatton V Mayweather did better figures in the UK, a country with less than 1/5 the population of the USA tells you this.
Also has to be factored in that the mayweather hatton fight started at 5 am uk time, where does this 1.3 million come from though, is that confirmed, always thought they did about 900k, amazing either way for a fight at 5 in the morning
no it doesnt. and what about the filipinos and other fans around the world? no offense, but not only is vegas is not only a neutral spot for both fighters, vegas has much more to offer than england in terms everything. mayweather-hatton was a blockbuster no doubt but it didnt beat mayweather-de la hoya :deal
Hatton PPV's have generally done around 900k buys since Tszyu.... not sure what Lazcano did bearing in mind there were 50k ppl there.... but Floyd did do over 1.3m buys - but only at £15 each ($30 at the time) so it is hardly megabucks.
who cares about more seating, seriously? in a stadium that big i can only imagine how shitty the nose-bleed seating would be. i agree that hatton should get a mega fight @ wembley before he retires (and i would order it) but in the meantime it is what it is. and another thing, wouldnt you rather see hatton fight someone he actually has a chance at beating live in england?
