or why the **** dosent Vegas just build a 80k seater stadium, but then again if they did they probably wouldnt be able to fill it in the US.
london has everything except guranteed good weather, vegas has nightlife and casinos (and london nightlife is as good as any place the world and better than most)
It breaks all known records with regards to luxury, seating, eateries, views, utilities, is unique in everyway. And anyway, its not another identi-kit casino. Seriously; Planet Hollywood/Thomas and Mack centre???!
yes. all things your average football fan and pissed up boxing fan craves. when i was in there it just seemed like a slightly larger version of the emirates stadium, which is also a shithole.
Something needs to be done to take the fights away from vegas. I mean, its not about money entirely, money could be equally attainable in Europe, I have no doubt about that. Bigger stadiums, equally big audiences.... so something needs to be done about the promoters. Lou DiBella and Bob Arum mainly, although it looks like GBP are keen to expand in to Europe, eg taking on Hatton to be their main man in Europe, so hopefully they can produce a boxing scene in Europe that has the bigger fights, the fights that should be in Europe for the fans.
Wembley doesn't have a full roof. The pitch is open to the elements during the fight. Picture 100,000 people trying to leave Wembley Stadium at 4am. Its a nightmare to get to, by car or train.
The problem is the casinos offer more money to the promotion teams than anyone else. Gate receipts are pretty much irrelevant comapared to the cash the casinos will offer. So even an 80,000 seater stadium is dwarfed in financial terms. As for PPV, Brits will buy this fight regardless. As will those in the Philapenes. Therefore the only mass market which then needs to be catered for is the US. Like it or lump it, if it isnt happening in USA then the Yanks wont know it's happening at all and therefore PPV numbers are lost. Having the fight in the States allows the US market to buy in whilst the UK and Philipenes will be there anyway - despite the time of day! This is obviously not great for us, but while everyone is chasing the green that's just the way it is!
the fight should be on neutral ground. end of story and to top it off, they will make more money by having it in Vegas.
Big stadium maybe. But the atmosphere for Hatton v Mayweather was awesome! I have to say that it was better than Hatton v Lazcano which was in City of Manchester Stadium. Granted there was a massive difference in the size of the occassion. But if the fight is right then the atmosphere will create itself. And as stated earlier - attendences are irrelevant.
What? You seriously think a bunch of p!ssed up Brits following Hatton on tour would rather go to Dubai than Vegas? I'd love to go to Dubai. But I'd be going with the missus. Lads holiday - its Vegas all over.
