    These are my views :good

After the lazcano fight many people were saying Hatton showed not enough head movement and wasnt as relentless as he has been before and caught many unnecessary shots. However since his emplyment of mayweather sr, these views have changed alot and rightly so.

Mayweather sr will twaek hattons defense and only add to his armoury, but you cannot change a fighter too much IMO as he will only revert to his tried and tested means of fighting if anything seems to go wrong.

Its inevitable that a fighter with such a lifestyle will eventually detereorate in terms of speed, ability to take a shot etc..

In his next fight he will take on malignaggi, a relatively feather fisted jabber-fighter who showed heart v cotto. However, even if malignaggi does get to hit hatton IMO it will not be hard enough to stop hattons charge. And who knows? Maybe Mayweathers training will make hatton impenetrable to jabs... If so, either Paulie has developed some other weapon in his armoury or his hands dont play up and he can adapt OR his chances will slim.

Anyone know who will be refereeing the bout, or how Paulies training has gone?

p.s at 5/2 IMO malignaggi is a very decent bet however im still undecided...

EDIT; here is an interesting radio broadcast by some radio 5 bbc pundits including steve bunce

Hatton has about six rounds to take Paulie out. After that, it's Malignaggi's fight by decision.

People are so wrong about this one. This is not a 50/50 fight or anything of that kind or Hatton would have to respect Malignaggi in the first place... I'm sure that Ricky doesn't respect Paulie as much and he will always try to hit him first. Then, it's all about styles yes... Hatton has the petrol motion, the toughness and the power punches. Malignaggi would have to break Hatton's motion and he clearly doesn't have the mental and physical strength to do it. Doesn't really matter if he's flashier or jabs/crosses cleaner, he can't really take Hatton off his game and so it's a nightmare for him all the way till the very end. Hatton by KO.

it will be interesting to see what hatton comes to fight in terms of style. will a few months be enough time for sr. to change up hattons style? or will we see a ricky hatton with a few noticable tweaks here and there? im eager to find out.

I see Ricky walking through Paulie whilst Paulie breaks his brittle hands trying to keep RIcky off of his ribs. Hatton TKO

With such a short amount of time together. I don't expect huge improvements from Ricky under Sr.'s guidance. Although, I do expect him to be a bit more improved on defense, most specifically his ducking and slipping of punches. And also use those as a means to get to Paulie.

We'll see. Oh and I don't think he's shot at all.

I fail to see what Mayweather Sr is going to do. He's too old to start playing around with his style. He's a wrestler for a good reason - he's not that good at boxing. Hatton will fight his norman style, because in the heat of battle you resort to your instincts. It will probably work, if Paulie can't keep him at range.

On that we can only make a wild guess.

No matter what Floyd Sr does in training . . . if Hatton's reflexes and stamina is not there and he won't be able to react on what Paullie has to bring in the ring . . . then he still loses.

Paullie doesn't have power but he is a decent and notable boxer. If Paullie is succesfull in staying away from Hatton's clinches and holdings . . . he can win this by points.

If nothing else Mayweather Sr. will give Hatton more specific insight into the world of quick combination punching 'slickster' oriented boxing mentality and exection. Knowing some of these things from the inside will be of great benefit to Hatton. He may be surprised to see ahead of time some of the things that Mayweather Sr. has recently presented to him being employed by Malignaggi. According to Hatton his defense has been his greatest liability. Some of these things can only help.
