I do not believe you when you say you ALLWAYS root for the best man, and patriotism has nothing to do with it. Utter BS. I don't think there is a boxing fan on the board who can use that statement.

Briggs Ko'd Liakhovich less than 4 years ago and won a major world title belt. So you can not say he was last relevant 13 years ago.

Also Briggs is 38. Ok--enough of me correcting your mistakes for now.

I believe Briggs because he can punch has a better chance to upset than Gomez, and Johnson who were excellent boxers and top ten ring ranked opponents.

Do you really think I give a toss about your opinion ?
Briggs will be 2 months off 39 when he faces Vitali.

Liakovitch was a built up nobody as his subsequent form shows, with a couple of wins over outer fringe guys, and he was overwhelmingly in front before Briggs staged a last ditch effort, to stop him.

    You correcting my mistakes?

Here are some of your recent howlers from the last couple of days.

    "liked to thorw punches"
"Tubbs made him look bad as well. Not"
"We all saw how much engry Vitalu had". [This one prompted a response ,and a laugh from Itrymariti]
"and finished him who was in shape for the match"
"wasn't built to withstand a punishment"

    Pot Kettle ,Pot Kettle.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

ps " Quantas never crashed" ,"these are definitely not my shorts" :rofl

The fight that Lennox Lewis brought to Vitali was nothing scientific. It was a tall fighter with a long shooting righthand using it with a lot of pressure. Once Lewis starting closing the gap, he started using short shots in close to break Vitali down. By the fourth or fifth, you could see that Vitali was mentally starting to fold. He did not have the ability to handle that type of physical fight, and the Lewis punches starting landing cleaner and more often and he was stopped. This is what I mean by "fighting". Its not boxing from the outside its turning it into a street fight.

This is the fight that Emanuel Steward has been trying to prepare Wladmir for since he took over his training. This is the type of fight Fritz Sdunek could never prepare Vitali for, because he doesnt know how to. The Klitschkos are very good range fighters and boxers, and when boxers can stay in that comfort zone they can dominate if their opponent goes along with the fight, and there just hasnt been anyone good enough to do it.
Shannon Briggs is interesting because he has shown he can throw that very same righthand that Lennox Lewis busted up Vitali with. His problem like you say, is horrible stamina, and his reluctancy lately to really bring sustained presssure because of his weight and conditioning.

As I said, if I was training Briggs, I would put him in 5 and 6 round gym wars against tall sparring partners, and make him brawl and pressure. Its his only chance to win. Hes not going to win a boxing match, and Vitali is smart enough to recognize that Briggs is dangerous for about 5 rounds before he completely gasses, so Briggs has to pressure fast and furious.

I disagree , Haye vs. Harrison is more credible for 2 reasons : to see how Haye performs against a bigger man whom is healthy , to see who is the best British HW is. Plus , Haye owes Audley for his help as Audley once said.

Vitali vs. Briggs is of zero importance and the way I see it , Vitali has nothing to gain (except from money) from this awful mismatch , and Briggs whom barely even counts as a name in recent years has nothing to lose (except from his health).

For those keeping score, there are preliminary talks of Vitali facing Adamek on March 8, 2011 in Madison square garden, 40 years to the the day when Ali and Frazier first meet.

I think Briggs starts to get tired in the mid -point but showed late power over Lyackavitch ...Vitali can box him and be ahead but Briggs has power and knows its his last hurrah even though he is younger than Vitali....Vitali must be careful and be in good condition and he should win a ud or a late tko but Briggs is a good puncher and dangerous

I sure don't see the paltry Briggs punch output doing much in this fight. Maybe 15 or 18 or 22 punches per round? Land what 6 or 7 maybe and how many flush?

The irony is the guy gets fatigued doing that much work. Take breathers. He'll be wearing the earmuffs in this fight if he can hold his hands up for 3 minutes a round. And he'll have to use his legs to get in the proper range to land when he does bother to plant his legs to throw a punch.

I sure don't like the Briggs defense holding up for long and having to absorb punishment round after round while trying to get the offense rolling. Tired and still absorbing the whole time is going to be very tough against an opponent with stamina and good whiskers and is difficult to out-think.
