    VIP OLDHAM SHOW CANCELLED

In keeping with a policy of only staging shows that are value for money, VIP Promotions have reluctantly cancelled their scheduled card at the Oldham Sports Centre on Saturday October 20 after a series of fighter withdrawals and bout cancellations.

Originally to be headlined by Manchester’s Karl ‘Bulbhead’ Place and Blackpool’s Jack Arnfield in 10-round title fights, and with an undercard that included rising stars Tommy Stubbs and Liam Taylor, the show was shaping up to be another quality VIP affair. *These fighters will now appear on future VIP shows planned for December.

“We’ve had a great start to the season with three excellent shows in Manchester, Blackpool and Bolton,” stated VIP Promotions’ chief, Steve Wood, “and we maybe could have gone ahead with the Oldham show. *We decided though that we didn’t want to jeopardise our hard-won reputation as one of the UK’s top promoters by staging something we weren’t completely happy with.

“With various fighters pulling out, mainly with medical and injury issues, we’ve now taken the decision to cancel. *We lost both title fights, along with Alex Rutter, Marvin Greaves, Tommy Stubbs and Anthony Smith. *It’s a tough time economically for people, and we’ve always been about quality cards not quantity. *I realise it’s quite short notice, but I hope boxing fans will appreciate our commitment to only staging worthy and entertaining shows.”

Fans that have purchased tickets for the show at the Oldham Sports Centre on October 20 will be able to get a full refund at point of sale.
