If it means they can grow the sport in a place with a population of over a billion people, then I don't see a problem with him being falsely elevated to a level higher than what he should be at.

It only takes one to inspire others, who could turn out better. Just look at how much the media and British tennis fans used to crawl up the backside of Tim Henman. It's a very similar thing. I bet it inspired the likes of Andy Murray to take it further.
