India's first-ever boxer to capture an Olympic medal is aiming to put his nation on the global boxing map under the status that matters most -- the professional ranks; Singh (12-0, 8 KO) signed a multi-year contract with promotional giant Top Rank. But his career hasn't progressed at a pace you'd might expect. Those with knowledge on this boxer -- what do you think his chances are of lifting a boxing world title someday? Will he indeed be the first Indian to do so?

    Very doubtful.

Level of his opposition has been poor add into the fact he's 34 so not young and has had 4 fights since August 2017 doesn't help. Only thing going for him is he's a Super Middleweight, a division that's easier to get a title shot than other weight classes but time is running out to even get a title shot.

No.Too old not good enough. He sells indian tickets...but they cost like 9 cents in our money...he wants to con his way to a title shot...and Arum wants to live forever and thinks all of india is like bollywood and make india a boxing market....the only interest here is who keels over first...old bob..or singh when he takes a half decent punch from a half decent opponent.

I'd also question his pro technique...his left right should be his meat and potatoes...sorry his aloo gobi..... but he still looks amateurish. He isnt gonna fill wankehead stadium and dubai is arab....doddering Bob probably doesnt know the difference.

It doesnt help theres a famous indian wrestler the same age same medal with almost exactly the same name (1 letter apart)....talk about making a right biryani of the whole thing.

He shouldve been bought to compete in the uk from the get go...instead he turned pro in a slumdog country where 800 million live on $1 a day...

Thanks for your feedback! For me, with all due respect, Singh hasn't done quite enough to put India on the boxing map just yet. For that he would need at least title ci contention status or better. How do you feel about it -- has Vijender put India on the world boxing map already?

They might hand him one of the minor vacant WBA straps against a pushover, but legitimately? Very unlikely.
It's a weak division, but still too strong for Singh to make very big waves.

This fraud gets brutally exposed if he ever steps in with a live body. Pretty sure he's already received a gift or two.

He just got knocked out by a unknown Russian in a hilarious comedy fight. Where he got knocked down loads of times but the corrupt ref didn't score some of the legit kds.

To be fair he did show some skill early on in the fight. He just didn't seem to be in to it mentally and gave up.

i counted 8 or 9 knockdowns there at least.

On most of them the referee didnt even do a count.

It’s clear he doesn’t like being hit and needs to retire. My guess is he hasn’t done any sparring for the fight and when he got hit it was such a shock to him that it put him into shock.

He will be wishing that he stayed retired after that.
